  1. @Bignose, very relevant, thank you. @John Cuthber, i plan on using a stove (or maybe taking apart a few toasters) to provide an electrical heating element which i'll supply either from the city grid or a small solar panel.
  2. yes, i do have many questions on the subject primarily, how do i communicate the radio frequency (once received by the antenna) to a speaker? when does it become sound? (and thanks for the link, you've jogged my memory a bit to a an example of a rudimentary two-way radio, and it's helped in my understanding of the topic)
  3. So, i figured i would make my own ethanol to use as fuel. I'm looking into the neccesary alterations that will be made to such things as the carburetor elsewhere, my question for this topic is: what is the expected cost of production? i'll buy sugar at the local store (estimated $0.378 per pound) and use a yeast / water mixture in the absence of air to produce ethanol. then i plan to heat the mixture until the ethanol boils off (78.1 celsius) and i wonder how much ethanol will be produced per pound of sugar.
  4. What method is used to isolate (and culture) stems cells removed from a blastocyst? would that method be different if you were tasked with isolating stem cells from an apple seed? Thank you in advance for discussion :]
  5. what makes a metal capable of receiving radio waves? or to rephrase: what is the basic principle behind a functioning antenna?
  6. I need to design an experiment to find the resonant frequency of porcelain. i'd appreciate any suggstions. (or the answer; i don't need to design the experiment if someone has the answer)
  7. @chandana, interesting topic, i'd love to know more, please do what you can to get the info onto the discussion board.
  8. Earth is God's "refinery". Earth is a place where doubt is cast and options given in order to sift the good from the bad. We have the ability to Observe, analyze, and recreate the things we see A Person has no choice but to propagate the essence of himself. (He is lazy, others see his laziness) (He is Sad, others see his sadness) This is the foundation of the phrase "A tree bears fruit acoording to it's kind" This is foundation of the paradox "A person can't -actually- be doing -nothing-" People have no choice but to act as sounding boards for emotions, ideas, and abstracts "godly" things are those which bring us closer to achieving cohesion with everyone else "devilish" things are those which separate us spiritually All of our consciousnesses are linked and all of our spirits are cut from the same cloth. The goal is to understand that, and live according to that knowledge. Jesus lived a very "exemplary" life. All of the decisions he made, all of his actions and words, were done with the intention of bringing people's spirits together. Sometimes he would challenge establishments which created structures that (when adhered to) would drive people apart. It is still a matter of personal action for each of us to be "saved". "Salvation" is like happiness. there are ways to achieve a higher "base level" of it, a more perfect standard below which one consciously avoids falling, but to truely reach higher they must exhibit intuitive acts under stressful and unfamiliar conditions.
  9. A branch of Eastern medicine claims that the body is capable of creating new organic compounds to meet the needs of the practitioner. from what i understand, this is done by focusing on the intended outcome, while the subconscious works to achieve it. i imagine the argument may lead as follows: "is it possible for the body to make new compounds" - "yes, it's called evolution" "is it possible for the body to evolve so quickly as to make new compounds on an individual basis" or "is every genetic change one of an anomoly present from birth"
  10. Schultz, who was a physician, said that in its practical application, Autogenic Training is a system of very specific auto suggestive formulas to relax tensions and to alleviate psychosomatic disturbances, including many cases of insomnia, overweight, inability to concentrate, high blood pressure, constipation, skin problems, etc. (Karl Hanz Welz, Autogenic training) if it is psycosomatic, be open-minded about cures. most such cases are cured through non-conventional methods.
  11. you bring up a good point, i hadn't thought about the added strain on the skaters. i'll think for alternatives
  12. i don't have a PhD, i have a few experiences which justify my belief in a glorious slew of supernatural things. so, for the sake of this topic, i'll keep out. . . after i pose the question if i were to ask someone "how do i create a robot"? (or rather "what can i do that will guarantee the creation of a robot of my own design") they would suggest i spend my time working with robots. of course, i could bang a few pieces of steel together and never accomplish anything (which, i believe, is what the church is doing) i need someone to define terms, explain diagrams will those of you who have the details please share: "What have you done to guarantee yourself a religious experience?"
  13. when looking for god, i ask myself whether the things i experience have a possible hidden meaning, and if so, "what"? most importantly Deja Vu Coincidence and a term i dubbed sociosynchronis (the moment when two unrelated public conversations seem to share a topic) or other times when one-thing-seems-more-related-to-another-than-is-common.
  14. instead of using the pressure of the skaters, i would lay copper coils under the ice. if the bottoms of the blades of the skates were magnetized, wouldn't they create an electrical current in the copper? assume 20 people (40 magnets) moving along the outside of a cirlce (radius 25 feet) and underneath them is a large coil of copper covered by a layer of ice.
  15. i need a massive amount of energy, and i intend for my skaters to give it to me. i'm looking for a way to harness the motion of the skaters across the ice. it should give enough energy to keep the ice cool. (this is a daunting task, and will rely heavily on my ability to, later, design an effective cooling system) any suggestions?
  16. i cannot believe, given the history of its creation, that the bible is an invaluable tool for discerning the truth about religion. the old testament was written by Jews to overt the religious prosecution of their people by the Roman Empire. while the stories told may be true and accurate, they were SELECTED by a people who wanted to show their dedication. not by a people searching for truth. The New testament was written later, many of its books were omitted. . . . even if it were all a COMPLETE and direct account of events -handwritten by Jesus-, it was still translated from spoken Armenian to written Hebrew to Latin to Old English. and now, brainteaserfan, you want to use the NIV version? is that a good secondary source? do you know all of those men personally? those translators? were they, indeed, intent on preserving the truth? all of them? and did they, themselves, understand the parables which Jesus spoke in?
