  1. Ok, I'm going to visit this family who are like deeply religious (Christian). And since it's been two years since I last visited them, they still think I'm a 'good' Christian. But I'm an atheist now, and I'm very convinced that there isn't some 'floating' grandpa protecting us and shit.

    Ok what I'm basically asking is some convincing arguments against Creationism, and give me some defending points on Evolution.

    Please :D

  2. Woah Linux rocks!

    Every piece of hardware got detected. So here i am. Ya it is awesome. Well, I really didn't do it on my own, this guy helped me install all the software i need through the internet.

    But anyways Linux doesn't crash on me or anything, runs smoothly!

    :-D

  3. ok' date=' i wouldnt recommend it unless you are an advance user and not a gamer.

    seriously, its not an at all good OS for gamers and its only the advance programable reasons (mainly) and that people use it.

    as its open source (or whatever you personally call it) you can edit it yourself and get mods, this seems to be quite a popular reason for it.

    as i've (said previously) it is (according to recent in depth reports) less than 1% of the world OSs, so obviously not that many programs and games and even (apparently) some harware is not compatable with it.

    not having many uses or needs for the OS linux ive never really looked beyond their website about it! but that is what ive picked up from it.

    its also safer as most viruses are meant for a windows OS, not saying your totaly safe, but safer.

    also you may need to format your whole HDD. i know that you can re-instal a windows OS but i dont know if you can switch from windows to linux without doing the full format.[/quote']

    Well, according to this distro it wipes out my windows automatically and sets it up for linux when i boot from CD.

    I don't play games anymore, i just browse the internet and word document stuff :P

    according to the specifications required for an easy install i do have them, i just need to set up my hp officejet series printer in cups.

  5. Hey I was wondering i should re-install Internet Explorer instead?

    THis is Alienware's procedure for it:

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    Sometimes, due to faulty codes on web pages, files for Internet Explorer can become corrupted causing the browser to perform undesirably. If this is your case, follow the steps below to remove/re-install Internet Explorer:

    1. Click on the 'Start' button and select 'Control Panel' followed by 'Add or Remove Programs.'

    2. Once in the 'Add or Remove programs' window, click on the 'Add/remove Windows components' located on the left border, as shown in on Image 1.

    (Image 1)

    3. A window called 'Windows Components Wizard' will appear, and in it a window that lists the Windows components installed.

    4. To remove Internet Explorer, simply clear the check box next to it, as shown on Image 2.

    (Image 2)

    5. Click the 'Next' button to begin the removal process.

    6. To reinstall Internet Explorer, follow the previous steps, check Internet Explorer, and click the 'Next' button. At this point the installation process will begin. Once the installation is complete, please restart your system.

    7. Once your system has restarted, please insert the Alienware Product Recovery CD.

    8. Click on the 'Start' button, select 'Run', type rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf in the command line and click 'OK.'

    NOTE: You may be prompted to specify the location of the IEXPLORE.EXE file. If this occurs, type "X:\I386" (where the X should be substituted for the drive letter of the unit that contains the Alienware Product Recovery CD), and then click 'OK' to continue.

    9. Once the installation is done copying files, please restart your system.

  6. two windows XP.... your dual booting with the same OS... now thats dumb!!!! (no offense' date=' your case is a rare case!)

    if you can then format your WHOLE hard drive disk (HDD) just to get rid of everything + it speeds up your computer a lot.

    anyway, wtvr you do, get rid of one of the OSs and then re-instal the one you have left (even if it is the fixed one) that is because you obviously have a actiavtion code clashing because you are trying to instal two OSs with the same code. hence i said get rid of both of them and start again... except i said it as get rid of one and re-instal the other (same thing).

    you really dont want illegal OSs because they are soooo easy to trace + MS updates wont work with the most common ones (well nearly all of em) anymore.[/quote']

    :-(

    Oh my PC is an alienware.. so im gonna go see what they can do in steps to reformat the whole hard drive.

    How would i uninstall the OS's? Specifically the new one, since it won't let me start windows without activating? :P

  7. yea, i have another windows XP installed. SO whenever i turn on the computer it gives me the option of using the old windows xp with the corrupted explorer, or the new one... i go to the new one and i had to activate windows. I called a representative to activate, but the number i gave is not right. And I SAID THE NUMBER ACCURATELY... So i don't if i should re-install :(

  8. You can copy the files you want to keep onto CDs/zip disks/DVDs then un-install Windows and install it properly. If you can't un-install it for some reason, download/buy linux and when you install it you should be prompted whether to delete windows or run linux inside of windows (depending which version of linux you get) once that's done you can install windows, or keep linux if you like it.

    What are the advantages of using Linux? Can it play your ordinary PC game?

    Crappy Windows! You should switch to Linux! Lots of people have been using it and love it! I use it and I won't ever switch back to Microsoft products. Do you have system restore enabled? If so go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and try restoring your computer back to a previous date.

    If that dosen't work upload or copy all of your files to a safe place and then format your drive and re-install Windows!

    Yea I'm gonna try restoring it way way way back. lets see if it works.

  9. Okay i've been having this problem for about 6 months. Whenever I try to open a folder or open control panel or something, the computer refreshes and it doesn't open it.

    I tried re-installing Windows XP but I was dumb enough to install it partitioned inside my computer :rolleyes:

    Now today I tried getting my comcast cable internet connection working, but i couldn't install the software or anything, and the technician tried to open control panel but i told him it doesn't work, and he said oh well it's not my problem now :rolleyes:

    Is there any way to getting explorer running back to normal? :(

  10. lol' date=' a book would look good on an application.

    but published findings would look nice too lol.

    What exactly is Amnesty international. Ive heard some just call them socialists; that they're good in theory but bad in practice. I dont want to get involved w/ something that would take points off my college application!

    Edit* post #500 :D[/quote']

    I'm in Amnesty International. I was recognized as the member who wrote the most letters last school year lol :D. Well, anyways Amnesty International is an organization about human rights. What you basically do is write letters to governments across the global to make them aware atrocities occuring in their countries... e.g women abuse, child abuse, journalists who were taken in jail.. etc.. genocide and stuff like that.

    It's in no way or shape or form socialist. They're not pretty pro-socialist. They attack capitalists and socialists. Although, i sometimes disagree.. because I'm a Marxist-Leninst. :P

  11. fafalone said in post # :

    So you're pro-Al-Qaeda? There's overwhelming evidence they were responsible for 9/11... and if you think we shouldn't have responded to the death of 2500 civilians on our own soil, then you're seriously a candidate for thorazine/ECT treatment.

    what if U.S government was involved in 9/11 attacks :eek:

    Arrest the president NOW!! :D:P

  12. and so how can this administration lie, if Bush planned the war beforehand????? :confused:

    15 September 2002: A SECRET blueprint for US global domination reveals that President Bush and his cabinet were planning a premeditated attack on Iraq to secure 'regime change' even before he took power in January 2001.

    The blueprint, uncovered by the Sunday Herald, for the creation of a 'global Pax Americana' was drawn up for Dick Cheney (now vice- president), Donald Rumsfeld (defence secretary), Paul Wolfowitz (Rumsfeld's deputy), George W Bush's younger brother Jeb and Lewis Libby (Cheney's chief of staff). The document, entitled Rebuilding America's Defences: Strategies, Forces And Resources For A New Century, was written in September 2000 by the neo-conservative think-tank Project for the New American Century (PNAC).

    The plan shows Bush's cabinet intended to take military control of the Gulf region whether or not Saddam Hussein was in power. It says: 'The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.'

    The PNAC document supports a 'blueprint for maintaining global US pre-eminence, precluding the rise of a great power rival, and shaping the international security order in line with American principles and interests'.

    This 'American grand strategy' must be advanced for 'as far into the future as possible', the report says. It also calls for the US to 'fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theatre wars' as a 'core mission'.

    The report describes American armed forces abroad as 'the cavalry on the new American frontier'. The PNAC blueprint supports an earlier document written by Wolfowitz and Libby that said the US must 'discourage advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role'.

    The PNAC report also:

    l refers to key allies such as the UK as 'the most effective and efficient means of exercising American global leadership';

    l describes peace-keeping missions as 'demanding American political leadership rather than that of the United Nations';

    l reveals worries in the administration that Europe could rival the USA;

    l says 'even should Saddam pass from the scene' bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will remain permanently -- despite domestic opposition in the Gulf regimes to the stationing of US troops -- as 'Iran may well prove as large a threat to US interests as Iraq has';

    l spotlights China for 'regime change' saying 'it is time to increase the presence of American forces in southeast Asia'. This, it says, may lead to 'American and allied power providing the spur to the process of democratisation in China';

    l calls for the creation of 'US Space Forces', to dominate space, and the total control of cyberspace to prevent 'enemies' using the internet against the US;

    l hints that, despite threatening war against Iraq for developing weapons of mass destruction, the US may consider developing biological weapons -- which the nation has banned -- in decades to come. It says: 'New methods of attack -- electronic, 'non-lethal', biological -- will be more widely available ... combat likely will take place in new dimensions, in space, cyberspace, and perhaps the world of microbes ... advanced forms of biological warfare that can 'target' specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool';

    l and pinpoints North Korea, Libya, Syria and Iran as dangerous regimes and says their existence justifies the creation of a 'world-wide command-and-control system'.

    Tam Dalyell, the Labour MP, father of the House of Commons and one of the leading rebel voices against war with Iraq, said: 'This is garbage from right-wing think-tanks stuffed with chicken-hawks -- men who have never seen the horror of war but are in love with the idea of war. Men like Cheney, who were draft-dodgers in the Vietnam war.

    'This is a blueprint for US world domination -- a new world order of their making. These are the thought processes of fantasist Americans who want to control the world. I am appalled that a British Labour Prime Minister should have got into bed with a crew which has this moral standing.'
