  1. Thanks mooey, The first three are made up. I started with a blank page and just started brushing on the colour in layers. The last one of M42 was the same, but I had a photo beside me to guide me in getting the details, colours and positions of the stars right. God Bless, Baz.
  2. I found the airbrush tool on photoshop, so I thought I would have a bit of a play around with it and see what it could do. The first two pics are about 1/2 hour each of work. The Third is 1 hour. THe last I did tonight took me 3 hours. This thing it HEAPS of fun!!! Found something to do with my cloudy nights!! Baz.
  3. Sure thing. What size would you like them to be in future? Baz.
  4. Greetings earthlings! A.S.I.G.N. Observatory is proud to present the latest layman's guide to astrophotography. http://www.asignobservatory.com/AstrophotographyGuide.aspx As the Canon 400D and it's ilk are the most commonly used these days for the average budget, I thought it pertinent to be a little more specific in this area. I hope you enjoy the tutorial, share it with new and old astrophotographers, and add it to your links so everyone can gain from it! Happy space travels! Baz.
  5. I purchased it from a long since out of business telescope shop in Parramatta, Sydney. It came from Celestron in the U.S.
  6. I usually open up the dome an hour before imaging. Winter is obviously better, being in Canberra with it's minus temperatures.... Not a parking lot, just the street. Heat from that direction is not a problem. Light pollution in the burbs of Canberra is far better than that of Sydney, I can vouch for that! The dome is placed in my front yard in a nominal position, considering the movement of the stars from east to west. I try to photograph things that are at least 30 degrees above the horizon if I can anyway. Any lower than that tends to introduce too many atmospheric anomalies.
  7. Sorry dude, I just checked too, the link is ok but the server is down . Have another go later. Thanks for looking! Baz.
  8. Hello all, If anyone is interested in building their own observatory from scratch, learning about astrophotography, or trying their hand at a few astronomy related DIY projects, please say hello and have a bit of a look through my website. It is all free and there are no gimmicks. Put your credit card away, I don't want to see it! LOL Big cheers, Baz. _________________ A.S.I.G.N.
