  1. Sorry if this has been asked before, we've got a lab tomorrow, we have to take some different hydrate compounds and heat them up with a bunsen burner. We are supposed to figure out a way to know if all the water has been driven off, I just can't think of anything...besides until the compounds start burning, and that isn't good Is there a trick with temperature? I'm very puzzled Thanks in advanced for some hints Edit: So I've thought up heating it slowly, and by looking around on the net, keep weighing it till it stays at that constant weight...I think that's it. Might be a better way though.
  2. lol...some people are indeed that rich. I think it is kind of a waste, but that has never stopped anyone from making a buck before. We might get some benefits in the long run. Usually it takes consumer power to get some technology going. I think we need to get some propulsion techniques, electrohydrodynamic propulsion anyone? Although we need air for that
  3. I don't think it would really hurt, kids couldn't do anything too unreasonable I hope...
  4. Yeah, in nuclear and chemical reactions, matter can be converted to energy, or was it just nuclear? Hmm.....
  5. So is it true that earth's magnetic field is weakning, to flip soon or something like that. Wonder if that will matter with the flares, or would we have others things to worry about Sorry for being off topic
  6. How accurately can we measure things now a days, couldn't imagine noticing a small distance changing the time with the speed of light Clocks are getting better though...

My 83+ Silver died on me, on to my trusty 89, but my professor might not let us use them on the last test
  8. Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place...very noob =P Anyways, saw a tv show about supernovas, hypernovas, and black holes, and it talked about "jet streams" that can shoot out of black holes. I've just been curious about what exactly it is and how it happens, couldn't find a clear explanation for my small little mind. Also, will all black holes have them? Thanks
