  1. Can any one help with hints, suggestions idead?? Im lost ;-( (a) Provide the equilibrium constant expression (Kc) for the following reactions (i) 2 NO2(g) + 7 H2(g) -------------> 2 NH3(g) + 4 H2O(l) Kc = (ii) 4 FeS2(s) + 10 O2(g) ------------------->2 Fe2O3(s) + 8 SO2(g) Kc = (iii) H2O(g)+ C(s) ------------------------->H2 (g)+ CO(g) Kc = (b) Consider the reaction of hydrogen with sulfur to produce hydrogen sulfide. CO(g) + H2O(g) 2 CO2(g) + H2(g) At equilibrium (at 5500°C) the concentrations of each gas are: [H2] = 0.200 mol L 1, [CO] = 0.180 mol L 1 , [CO2] = 0.150 mol L 1 and [H2O] = 0.0.0411 mol L 1. Calculate the equilibrium constant for this reaction. ? c) Nitric oxide reacts with chlorine gas as follows 2 NO(g) + Cl2(g) 2 NOCl(g) Kp = 0.26 (at 700 K) The partial pressures of the three gases are measured and found to be P(NO) = 0.17 bar, P(Cl2) = 0.50 bar, P(NOCl) = 0.66 bar. (i) Calculate the reaction quotient (Qp) (ii) Is the reaction at equilibrium? __________________________ (iii) If not, in which direction (towards reactant or product side) is it progressing?__________________
  2. Can any one help with a few questions... In 1789 Antoine Lavoisier did a series of reactions where he oxidised tin to tin-calx (SnO2). Lavoisier found that 1 kg of air always reacted with 0.78 kg of tin to yield 0.99 kg of tin-calx and leave 0.79 kg of gas inerts. (a) Write a balanced equation for this reaction (including state symbols). (b) Did Lavoisier measure things correctly? Does 1 kg of air react with 0.78 kg of tin yield 0.99 kg of tin calx? (Show your working to confirm your decision). © Calculate the enthalpy change for the reaction of tin with oxygen. Given the following information, SnO2(s): ΔfHº = -580.7 kJ mol-1 and Sº = 52.3 J mol-1 K-1 Sn(s): Sº = 51.6 J mol-1 K-1 O2(g): Sº = 205.0 J mol-1 K-1 Is this reaction an exothermic or endothermic process?_______________________ (d) Calculate the entropy change for the reaction of tin with oxygen. I really need some help, any suggestion shints would be appreciated ta ;-)
  3. Hi Can anyone help me out with Ciguatoxins? (A) What kind of functional groups are present? I came up with methyl, ether, alcohol and alkene is this correct? (B) How many chiral bonds are present? I got 2 but some how think im not right .... © How many moles of Bromine would react with 1 mole of this compound? I got 4 (d) What is the R,S assignment to the four sterogenic centres in the sub-section of the Ciguatoxin molecule? This I have no IDEA.. Ta
