  1. Hi, Hope someone can offer a little help. I am trying to understand the reaction of carbonation in concrete and more exactly how to accelerate the reaction ie high, low, or nil water in the concrete at a higher or lower temperature. Hoping someone can offer a little insight into the reaction Ca(OH)2 + CO2 = CaCO3 + H20 Do you need water for this reaction to take place ? I think the above reaction is Acid Base because it produces water, but CO2 isnt an acid unless it is in water (Carbonic acid). Its exothermic which means that it will react quicker at elevated temperatures - yet CO2 is more in water soluble at lower temperatures. Hence Im confused Thanks Matt
