  1. By the time you have bought all the materials, it will almost certainly be cheaper to buy a cheap scope. If you realy want to make one theres lots of info on the net about making lenses and focal distances etc. It is a lot of work though. You may not be successful on the first attempt. Good luck though.
  2. Have you tried holding up a sword and shouting " by the power of greyyy skulllll ". Always worked for He Man.
  3. Wot insane alien said. The beer and gas will fall at the same rate.
  4. Escape velocity is for an unpowered projectile to go up and stay up. You therefore have to reach orbital velocity also.
  5. Google says they are good controllers of the insect population. I assume they eat them.

    What the...

Gayest and most surreal. It would win on both counts. I wonder how many of them can last that long let alone keep it anywhere near.
  7. How much loss is there in current induction to local metals. Whats the cost ratio between a normal gear and one of these of equivalent strength. How much force can be applied before contact between teeth. Are the teeth inherently brittle?.
  8. Try to make contact.
  9. If you have any two discs, one driving the other using friction, chain, pulley, or teeth between them will make them both, turn at the same rate with the same torque.
  10. You are going to have huge pressure at the finger pistons if you want to stick to that sort of size. I would say you might also want goggles and, a protective layer between your skin and the cylinders/lines e.t.c. for the same reason. A leak could easily push oil through your skin. The hydraulic lines are going to be a problem. You are looking at all custom machining I expect. Local engineering shop would be the best place to go. I don't see you having enough cash, unless you find a friendly bunch who will help you at their expense. Have you tried to do this with a tool like pipe grips first. Then you could work backwards on the leverage used to get an idea of the force required with short fingers and leverage.
  11. Go play Jenga. Then come back and tell us at what point you had to use explosives to lose.

    gas mixing?

I would expect it to seperate.
  13. In reality SAS. In fantasy Master Chief spartan unit from Halo. That dude can't half take one. His toys are nice too.
  14. We need a little more detail. What will it be used for, how much control do you need and what kind of force is needed. Anything else you think will be relevant.
  15. This seems a nice explanation. http://www.chem.purdue.edu/gchelp/cchem/geomi.html
  16. If its free I'll have it. May not work but I could use the parts.
  17. I saw a little on this on tv. They used copper saw blades that were smooth but put sand under the blade. They continued to add sand throughout the cut and some sand impregnated the blade. Copper chisels were used to dress softer stone and sand and a block to smooth it.
  18. Maybe its like a shift pattern. 1/4 for the 6am-2pm shift, 1/4 for the 2pm-10pm shift, 1/4 for the 10pm-6am shift and a relief 1/4 in case one 1/4 calls in sick?
  19. The dip is caused by a high current device being connected. This makes a surge current. Its explained from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surge_current
  20. A square napkin would have four ninety degree corners all the same no matter how many times you fold it.
  21. Make your own radio telescope. Make your own cosmic ray collector, then come back and tell us you found an alternative energy source.
  22. Sorry but the first one looks like a total fake to me.
  23. You need a small silicon wafer. Place it between electrodes and then slowly draw them apart.
  24. I think by the time the disaster arrives the polititions may just about have agreed to divert funds to study possible solutions.
