  1. If I'm not mistaken, I think what you are looking for is not Cr2O3, but CrO3 which is the acid anhydride of chromic acid. CrO3 is soluble in water and sulfuric acid. I wouldn't recommend you try chrome plating at home though. Since Chromium compound are toxic and carcinogenic. Also, you will have to dispose of the 'leftovers' properly. You cannot simply flush it away or dump it down the sink. It is illegal to do so since it is classified as hazardous waste. There are simply too many risks involved.

  2. Yeah, I shouldnt have done that. Funny thing is that it had a delayed reaction. At first nothing was happening, I figured I hadn't added enough acid so I added some more. I then went to get a drink and then came back. I saw the thing smoking like crazy.

     

    I found out that the bluish green stuff was dissolved NO2. I was pouring it down the sink and NO2 gas started coming out. Well, thanks and hopefully I'll still be alive 24 hours from now.

  3. Ok, I took a look at it now. I can see the white AgNO3 crystals and whats left of the liquid is a blue solution, probably copper. I'm going to leave it for a while, then take it out and filter it. Looks good

     

     

    Oh yeah, and would anyone happen to know how to neutralize or get rid of NO2 in the bathroom...

  4. Ah, but the silver I bought was apparently 99.9% pure. Got it off united nuclear. Could it that .01% make that big of a difference. Or might it me much more impure?

    I placed two silver disks in a beaker and added excess nitric acid to it, all of this was done in the balcony. I had my hot plate out there too. So i mix it and leave quickly and shut the balcony door. After the mixture heats up, a ton of NO2 gas starts evolving. After I while I started smelling it through the closed window, so I gather together two big fans, wait till the NO2 gas production has decreased, and open the balcony door. I aim the fans outside and turn them on full speed. Then i hold my breath and run out quickly (with a mask on of course) and turn off the hot plate. Now when I go back in I start breathing and the air was contaminated with NO2... I was breathing it in for like a minute. I quickly isolate the area, open all the windows.. shut all the doors to the area. Stop air conditioning and go into my room to write this. Now I held up the beaker to take a look at what was inside. All the silver had dissolved, the solution was a deep green color. I thought a solution of silver nitrate was supposed to be clear? Anyone have any idea on what the green color is? and wether I should probably see a doctor or not?

  6. Just a shot in the dark here, but are you sure your hard drive isnt located at /dev/sda ? Depending on your distribution and kernel setup, if you have SATA drives they could be under /dev/sda and not /dev/hda. Check that. Also try removing it and plugging it into a different position .. secondary master/slave.. and try loading it there. Lastly, I would load a windows isntallation CD to see if it recognizes the hard drive at all.

  7. I don't think that the bond in HHO are standard covanent.. In the Document it claims that the structure of HHO is (H x H)-O

    were the 'x' is a magnecular bond and that its caused by a change of the electric polarization of the water caused by their electrolzing box. They later state that the hydrogen atoms are polarized. Because the H atoms cannot remain polarized, the only 'solution' to that, they state, is for them to have the H atoms bond with opposing magnetic polarities.

    This polarization is also why the guy could apparently burn holes instantly through bricks.. "polarized H-atoms cause an induced polarization of the orbitals of the atoms of the brick, their consequential attraction to the polarized H atoms, and the latter rapid penetration within the deep layers of the brick structure". Now my question, is if that is true, how can it burn 'clean' .. why wouldnt a reaction occur.. and they say this instantaneous burning is because of the hydrogen.. but isnt the heat a product of the combustion of the gas?

If hydrino really exists, and the electrons in a hydrogen atom are at a lower energy level... would it mean that HHO gas is possible.. because hydrogen wouldnt need to give up its electron to acheive a lower energy state.. because it is already low.. mabe allowing it to accept an electron perhaps ? Hmm.. very intresting stuff .. mabe I'm way off =\

  9. If you want to stick with windows XP, I would first and foremost scrap the 'protection'. This isn't the usual advice i give people, but all of that will slow down your pc ALOT, and if you use your brain while on the internet, then you wont have a problem with viruses anyways. But yeah, I agree with Captain Refsmmat. Find yourself a good linux distribution and install it on your laptop. You will get far better performance than on windows.

    Excluding all the factors that might have affected the temperature and fire, and taking into consideration only the fact that the towers collapsed, the video provides examples of other buildings that have had planes crash into them. Some continued to burn for over 24 hours. None of the other buildings collapsed except the World Trade Center towers. Now I personally don't think the buildings were rigged with explosives.. but there must have been something that we dont know about that caused the towers to collapse like they did within a few hours of the planes' collision.

  11. I would do Iodine clock reactions. They never cease to amaze me. Google 'landolt reactions' or iodine clock reactions. It's a great display of how the concentration of a substance affects the rate of a reaction.

  12. Your best bet would be Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 .NET. I personally beleive that currently, its the best version. VS 6 is outdated and VS 2005 has alot of changes that are unnessicary and break regular c/c++ code. Another choice would be Borland's IDE, but borland doesn't have any Visual Basic IDE's. A good resource to have is MSDN. It's all avaliable online, but I would get me a copy of the MSDN DVD. There's a new one each month and I don't think they are expensive. It's a great resource. As for books I recommend taking a look at:

     

    Programming Win32 Under the API (With CD-ROM)

     

    Programming Windows, Fifth Edition

     

    I would also get a copy of

     

    Programming in C, Third Edition If you are planning on learning C/C++. One more thing. STAY AWAY FROM MFC.. or Visual C++..

    Excessive exposure to Gimp may lead to problems with the muscles. For left-handed people the left arm and shoulder are most vulnerable, for right-handed people the right arm and shoulder are most vulnerable.

     

    Haha, That was a dead giveaway, I can't beleive I didn't notice that the first time.
