  1. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/09/02/rescue-efforts-underway-after-oil-rig-accident-in-gulf/ why does this keep happening? and what can be done to prevent it? and will this explosion cause any oil to be spilled?
  2. nobody's commenting on my threads :(

  3. I rephrase my question to: what would a very high does of gamma radiation (coherent or otherwise) do to its a target (not necessarily an organic structure) ie. a missile, aircraft, asteroid or politicians and the question about a radio/microwave laser still stands "target" is not meant to mean it is being aimed I just mean whatever it winds up hitting
  4. it is invaluable to the high school student with no even vaguely intelligent friends
  5. I was banned from chat about a month ago is there any way i can get unbanned I realize i was baned for a reason and i get that repeating a question is not conductive to a quality discussion and that it is not much better than spamming. i regret my poor behavior and I realize that by doing what i did I harmed the entire SFN community but I am sorry and I would like to use the chat again
  6. what is the most heat resistant microorganism and how high a temperature would be required to kill it
  7. the density of the individual photons would remain the same
  8. are there any calculators that do not use scientific notation or provides exponent answers like this? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=+300%2C000%2C000+x+300%2C000%2C000 i want a number. i know that such a number would be in the billions but thats the point i want to know a number not just weather the number is big or not ps the description should be "a calculator THAT does REAL numbers
  9. how powerful is this laser i assumed that it was 700 milliwatts but i might be wrong?
  10. i could have sworn i had read something about a gamma ray leaser but if a gamma ray laser was built and it was fired what would it do?
  11. but stars are freaking huge i'm talcking about a space ship or asteroid not something thats near even half a solar mass

  13. what about a gamma ray laser or radio wave laser and what effects would these have on the target?
  14. i'm just wondering if the gravity of such a plasma cloud would be enough to keep it together and if it could be a potentially dangerous ie by hiting something
  15. this thread is to discuss the events leading up to and following the 9/11 attacks on the pentagon and the world trade center and the possibility that george w bush was somehow involved. for those who do not believe that there is a conspiracy here is the place to argue your points with those that do lets remember that the burden of proof is laid on the conspiracy theorists it is up to you to prove that there is a conspiracy not the people who disagree to prove that there is not
  16. the average American has probably at least a 5 terabytes worth of infomercials commercials political adds story plots to movies, books, cartoons memories and just for the most part useless information. I until recently i belied in ESP and the 9/11conspiracy theory doesn't seem that out there but thats the topic for another thread
  17. that was allot more impressive than http://www.powerlabs.org/ their rail gun is cool but...
  18. sorry it WAS a typo would one require less energy to power? is there any reason to use a violet laser over a red laser of equal power?
  19. E=mc^2 where E=energy M=mass c= the sped of light so the equation is really E=M*C^2 and sense we know what C is why do we put it to the second when we can just figure out what C^2 is and make that the constant? why not just put the value in the equation from the start?
  20. I see how most the stuff in the Pseudoscience page is like that but there are some "fringe sciences" that are not well understood by most regular people but the people working such theories surely are following the strictest scientific practices. and I doubt that such a scientist would ever publish a unfalsifiable theory or one that hasn't already been throughly tested
