  1. then we could breed a insect that would replace Mosquitoes (one that doesn't bite ) but even if that were imposable the aims is not to eradicate Mosquitoes it would be used to create a anti-Mosquito "fence" around towns and villages to protect the populous from malaria (or any of the countless other diseases that Mosquitoes carry) just starred a thread about focusing multiple beams into one http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/51766-laser-question/
  2. can several low power laser beams (7-8 milliwatts violet-ultraviolet) be focused into a single beam equivalent to the sum of the low power beams? would there be energy loss due to interference? if so how much? could a huge array of normal (ps3) diodes ie 1250 would you make a 10 watt laser or 10,000 to make a 80 watt beam? or 25000 to make 200 watt beam? correct me if i am wrong but isn't a 200 watt beam EXTREMELY powerful? but how powerful? can I use such a tank busting laser on a power point ?
  3. but why not just make subways the "transportation of the future"?
  4. there would be almost no way to turn. and it would a horizontal one even work?
  5. I know someone who might benefit from this treatment and i was wondering if there are any clinical trials that they could join
  6. perhaps a biologist should take a look at the idea
  7. i know someone who says that someday a system of Pneumatic tubes ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumatic_tube ) will replace cars. this seems absolutely ridiculous to me. and i was wondering if someone could confirm how absolutely ridiculous it is and explain the many reasons why it is so ridiculous.
  8. i was reading a article about killing cancer cells with viruses. but unfortunately the article was written in October of 2004! so I was wondering if there was any new material since 2004? has this reached the point where they're conducting human trials yet?
  9. so if 4 million lbs on matter were annihilated how much energy would be released? (in megatons)
  10. anyway to make Google to the whole equation? and the mass and energy in E=mc^2 what units do they use? is the mass measured in grams and the energy measured in newtons ? and how do you multiply by 8.98755179 × 1016 m^2 / s^2?
  11. y=x/(x+3) the (x+3) finds the numerator (the # on the bottom ) you divide by x which is the denominator (the # on top) y=3/(3+3) y=3/(6) y=0.5 which is = to 0.50 which is = to 50%? is this right?
  12. no I meant a laser that could turn all of Gotham into a giant glacier!!!
  13. so IF negative energy exists it would be possible?
  14. no I mean a beam that freezes stuff like mr. freeze from those old batman movies
  15. a weapon of robot destruction? lol
  16. i heard someone say that an ice laser/beam was imposable, something about thermodynamics. but could someone explain the scientific principle that makes it imposable?
  17. did you read the article? no one would miss mosquitoes! not even fish and birds. malaria and west Nile virus might but oh well seriously somebody should design the laser for this!
  18. I don't mean another constant i just mean using the value of c^2 rather than figuring it out EVERY time you use the equation!
  19. yes the numbers were rounded to the nearest whole number how would that be done? oder of operations tells me to divide so i get 3 ___=1.3 repeated 3+1 or if I add first 3 ___ 3+1 3 ___=.75 4 so what am I doing wrong? someone on yahoo said y = x/(x + 3) but that doesn't seem to work either
  20. the blu ray diode is more powerful than anything else that I know of. maybe if you had like 100 of them and focused them into a single beam. but that might make some power loss to interference but i don't think it would be very much. also if you had a beam like the one on your link but (500-700milliwatts) but the same beam divergence a series of focusing lenses (kinda like a funnel) would increase the range. but if laser DIODES fail. you could use a small co2 laser (20 watt class) like here http://www.powerlabs.org/laser.htm but that might be overkill
  21. x=1 y=25% x=2 y=40% x=3 y=50% x=4 y=57% x=5 y=62% x=6 y=66.60% this is based upon how 1/4=25 2/5=40 each time the numerator and denominator both increase by one. but I can't figure out the equation!
