  1. whos has a red under line while I admit that it should be whose I accidentally changed it to who's. this is why homophone errors are not as bad as spelling errors because at least when you have a homophone error what you have written is a word
  2. http://www.chapelaustralianbiketours.com/images/twomaps.gif http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081228210331AA2wxL3 http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_size_of_Australia_compared_to_the_US http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_the_Australia_area_compare_in_size_to_the_US_land_mass the usa is bigger and has more people but even if Australia was bigger it would be no better to make generalizations about all Americans than about all Australians what would you think if someone was on here saying that Australians are stupid for wrestling crocodiles or something. not all Americans are the way you seem to think. to say all Americans you are talking about 307 million people that you have never met to say most you're talking about around 153.5 million broad brush strokes don't work on groups so large (note even if you want to make such comments like that just about taxes that state has a greater population than Australia so you should remember that it is probably more correct to say all Australians... than all Texans) http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#sclient=psy&hl=en&site=webhp&q=population+of+australia&aq=1&aqi=g-e1g3g-o1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.&fp=eda1291fdd569703 http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=population+of+texas&cp=16&pf=p&sclient=psy&aq=0&aqi=&aql=&oq=population+of+te&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.&fp=eda1291fdd569703 http://www.google.com/#about:blank I agree that there probably are some truths in the bible (such as cities mentioned may have existed attacks on cities may have happened, people may have acutely existed etc) but that is a discussion for another thread this thread is asking if science and religion can coexist without having disagreeing elements
  3. i did not correct them to be like "haha" it is just easier to correct my own mistakes (which i obviously need as much help as possible with that) if i get rid of all little red under lines in my post. i just added that part (that contained that mistake) to not be offensive to the person i was quoting i was basically saying "I'm not correcting you just to be a jerk" but you on the other hand said nothing about the topic so were you correcting me just to be a jerk? well firefox spell check red flagged it so i changed it (i cant see my own errors as well if other red underlines are mixed in) whoever says "it's a god named Zeus causing thunder and he was the son of a titan named Chronos" the person stating this from thin air knows that it is BS and others would ask "and you know this how" fire fox red-flagged it and said that it should be who's
  4. not all Americans are Christians. and republican and democrat while they are not the parities in other countries you could probably translate them over to many countries' political parities(even though saying that you are part of "x" political party would not discredit your argument) by state do you mean state as controlled by the national government or is your country divided into states/Providences and are controlled by them? indeed it does and is a fairly good idea but unfortunately schools are divided into districts here (in the us) and the national government does not have much power over the curriculum while that is a good system implementing it in the US would be difficult (at this point if you have a response about this i would suggest starting a thread about the American school system in politics and linking to it) i would also recommend not making broad sweeping comments about a place that is larger than Europe. America is a large and varied place we are not all religious fundamentalists and when you say things like to that effect you are going to offend someone. lol are you sure that those "religious" people aren't trying to make fun of religion? his response to the "what about god loving everyone" question is something atheists have been saying about the bible for years. if they really read and believed their holy book than that is what they would do
  5. (i corrected you're spelling so i could better see my own spelling mistakes) but how do religions start? someone has to come up with some BS to tell people is true and how can someone do something like that to the world?
  6. but that seems to suggest that things can be in more than one place at one time
  7. perhaps because it supports the idea that their religion has taken elements from other religions?
  8. well Christmas (according to Christan beliefs) was the day that Jesus was born. so I don't see where the celebration of Christmas compromises Christan beliefs. yeah that one
  9. should atheists retain religious holidays/festivals just because they like them/want to and can they do so without compromising their opinion? and should atheists be offended by religious elements to religious holidays that they celebrate? while i do not believe in god/ Jesus i have no problem hearing a song about the birth of Jesus around Christmas (quite possibly the best holiday ever).
  10. to restate in a way that does not bring up the christian/pagan Christmas thing again should atheists retain religious holidays/festivals just because they like them/want to and can they do so without compromising their beliefs
  11. so how is atheism better than the cookie god thing? why not? why not believe total Bull just because it makes you happy?
  12. One could reasonably argue that if theyy had a better "bs" detectors they would never have bought religion at all
  13. you expect there to be a "religion is lie" class?little kids are told many things are true and they hang on to those beliefs as long as they can. many (i was once included in this) when their religion is challenged (ex: by evolution) all they can think is "GOD EXISTS!!!! end of story! any belief any alteration any pile of carp will believed as long as it does not challenge that statement. the schools might not teach somethings enough but they are not at fault for religion it's preconditioned into the minds of American children get used to it no one is going to memorize Australian television personalities to not seem like an American idiot.as far as religion goes the usa is behind the rest of the world so what? Americans know the usa well and most will never leave the USA so no most don't care and no one should expect otherwise
  14. so in "if object x and y are moving at point Z and X is moving at C and is 5000 kilometers away from point z. object y is 400 kilometers away from point z and is moving at 5000 KMS object Y's trajectory is on a right angle to x's." how how does that work? there sems to be some kind of paradox there...
  15. could you expand on this a little please? are you saying that you don't add the velocities of 2 objects to find out the velocity of one object if one of them is assumed to be stationary?
  16. dragonstar57

    C?

if object A is moving at X and object B is moving in the opposite direction also at X than either object is moving away from the other at 2x right? but why does this break down when the statement of "x=C" is added to the situation? also how does dilation effect the trajectory of an object? if object x and y are moving at point Z and X is moving at C and is 5000 kilometers away from point z. object y is 400 kilometers away from point z and is moving at 5000 KMS object Y's trajectory is on a right angle to x's. how will time dilation effect when one gets there relative to the other and at what speed are the objects moving relative to one another? ps. sorry if this is difficult to understand or if i left out an important value.
  17. i was joking...it's not homework (and the book doesn't exist)
  18. how realistic is fusion technology?
  19. now can you give the line # and the page # in "English 10: developing competency " ?
  20. that's done with 1/4 of a watt (250mW) jugging on that i would guess a 500-700 mW 1.5 watt will work well for setting paper on a fire
  21. and you would have to be very lazy to ignore all the red underlines... whereas homophone errors are not marked... (I suspect that if we continue this grammar conversation on this physics thread a mod is going to say something...)
  22. spelling errors imply being too lazy to use spell check while a homophone error could just be someone who was typing to fast and made a mistake. and even if someone has awful spelling/grammar the least they can do is spell check
  23. ???it spelled it channel?
