great question, first of, most of the replies have it right here, much more factors going into IQ than just race, and the fact that people are WAY to sensitive about race, and the threat of being labeled racist is always used to instantly discredit others in debate but funny to me, getting a scientist to be honest about how racist his darling evolution can sound is harder than keeping your old racist grandfather from accidentally blurting offenses when you bring your African American girlfriend to the family reunion. and just as embarrassing when it spills out.......haha

okay, thanks again for your reply, allow me to scale this down a bit so we can forget the "god" word, and do away with the substance of the universe suppose we put a jar of marbles with a grenade in the middle of a 20x20 ft room, and put a target at the top of one of the corners what kind of formula could i use to try and predict how many marbles,size of explosion, and attempts will be needed before a marble hits the bulls eye? thanks spyman, the drake equation is exactly what i was looking for, along with the fermi paradox

thanks for your reply, i tried to word this in a way that wouldnt confuse the issue, sorry if i have, i understand we dont have any of the variables or numbers needed to actually quantify the problem but probability is very much a mathematical issue, so i have to disagree with you there i understand the relationship between science and faith and meant no attempt to confuse either issue. but even a zero-energy universe must still account for the initial energy needed for inflation, so the beginning of the universe still remains something outside scientific explanation, and therefore can still be considered "supernatural". i fear i cant go much more into this question under a math forum. im sure these are much better suited for physics or philosophy and im not trying to make any jumps from improbability to "god did it". but if anybody could help me with one more item.........is there anywhere i can find such statistics on the surrounding stars or solar systems so i can look into the probability of things like stars with/without planets, etc once again thanks to everybody for replying ,

My goal here is to see if there were any way to formulate an equation based on these rules.... 1. in a limited universe ( i know the odds are always "1" in an infinite universe) what may be the odds of 8 planets circling one sun, and one planet in the "Goldilocks" zone of its star, and also the odds of this solar system being outside the distance of some cataclysmic event ( IE solar flare, black hole etc) for long enough to account for our present circumstance (life, intelligent life) 2. using the terms from #1 as our target , what would be the amount of energy needed to assure that these odds happened at least once 3. the reason im proposing this problem , is of course completely theoretical and based on the assumption of a creator, i know this blurs the lines between subjects....but trust me this is all math........im asking because if we are to assume a creator, we must assume he is a mathematician of the purest form, so, if we were a god how much explosion would we need to produce enough matter , bringing the odds of such fortuitous circumstance ( of #1) to reality...... 4. wouldnt it be something if the amount of energy needed to produce these results was the same amount of energy that is in our universe? 5. i dont assume that we know how much energy is in the universe, and wouldn't want to burden anybody with trying to weigh all the mass in it either,.....just wanting to know what kind of math would be needed to start this kind of inquiry

good point captain.......it is like a stepper motor, im no engineer so, this is the first im hearing of the stepper, so you'll have to forgive my ignorance, ....but mostly i was interested in what kind of speeds could be achieved by the prop, on a more concentric route of magnetism.(especially considering the speeds attained by rail guns).....im imagining something with many more points than a simple stepper motor though..with no change of polarity necessary...and again , the weight, noise issue,....basically just wishful thinking thanks for the feedback

thats what i was thinking also....by containing the blades in a closed loop, i would loose all the force from the edges of the blades, which i think is where most of the force actually comes.......but im not sure at all, thanks for the reply, also.....the assumptions of quietness and lightweight, are basically just reliant on the inevitable evolution of the magnetic rail technology itself.....

HELLO. id like to propose and idea for a propulsion system, i saw a show on ufo's the other day, and the people on the show discussed propulsion systems and said they could not explain a system that could be quiet enough for one of the eye-witness accounts, they talked about jet propulsion and helicopter engines.... so anyway, i had an idea, maybe its already been invented,.....maybe not, maybe its classified propose we take a magnetic rail system...... you know....how magnets on the track and on the train are opposing each other, and we bend it into a loop making a concentric circle , making the track the main outside loop, with magnet faces (the magnetic rail) on inside diameter now instead of a train....we have helicopter blades, with the outside of each of 4 blades containing its own "train" contacting with and opposing the inside of the magnetic rail loop, apply electricity , and make prop spin........like a propeller blades inside a donut, with no central engine, kind of like the helicopters in avatar and many other sci-fi........google image of "scorpion gun ship" from avatar movie for a good idea of what im imagining then what we have is a concentric circle magnetic rail loop system , a silent, energy efficient lightweight, helicopter prop , no transmission, belts, pulleys, etc im no engineer, but maybe this will do somebody some good......then again maybe the magnetic rail technology just hasn't advanced to the point in which this would be feasible yet im looking forward to some feedback from actual engineers or scientists on this proposal ps,...if you make billions on defense contracts........give a little credit.......THANKS

Hello Science forums...... before i state my hypothesis... let me make it very clear... i am no scientist..this is all "what if" and i only said i challenge these two great minds because i hope it makes a shocking enough title to draw enough people in what i am about to ask is simply question, i post it here because i dont know enough scientists to ask this too in real life but i promise...my hypothesis will either make you laugh... or upset you.......... my hypothesis deals with the nature of black holes.. and proposes that the universe is in fact finite one more disclaimer before you read it... i am writing this, because i literally had a dream where somebody explained this to me, i want...i repeat...I WANT ... VERY HARSH CRITICISM of this idea and WANT TO KNOW WHERE I AM WRONG.... i expect that i am wrong mostly because of my lack of understanding of this subject as a whole but if you are a physicist and know more than i i am begging to be enlightened... okay...enough boring you i propose that black holes....are not a force of gravity but instead are a force of entropy black holes are a place in which entropy is accelerated and matter ceases to exist , and that matter which surrounds black holes are led into it by a vacuum caused by the loss of physical matter, and thus causes the matter around it to coalesce into the formations of galaxiys we see now..all matter being sucked into...and rapidly disorganized ... what if gravity itself is the result of entropy..what if the loss of matter is the thing that causes space \time to bend and become an actual force of attraction have fun tearing me a new "black hole" folks....i am not putting any credibility on the line here....and admit i am profoundly ignorant of what i speak... but when you do criticize this....make sure you don't use current "theory" about these things to attack it...i am questioning the whole theories of dark matter and black holes and the foundation for the principle of gravity.......assume Einstein himself is wrong and we have been looking at it wrong the whole time...... EVEN IF YOU FEEL THIS IDEA IS NOT WORTH DISCUSSING, at least leave a curse word or two.........
