  1. Friend of mine actually did a study on hypnosis in college, and it was discovered that hypnosis, or at least the "It's Vegas and I'm hypnotizing you in front of a live audience" kind all has to do with pressure. It sounded strange to me at first but apparently you are only "hypnotized" because of the subconcious pressure to perform in front of such a large audience. You really do go into a trance of sorts, and you don't seem to have much control over yourself, but apparently it really is all in your head. Plus some people are really "easy" to hypnotize for whatever reason. As to your music problem, I would think that if you were truly hypnotized, then you would be able to come up with all kinds of new material. I've been a music student since high school, and I can relate to the nervous in front of people mindset, but, like I said, pressure plays a big role in hypnotizing someone. I've seen specials on, heaven forbid, t.v. where people do some wacky things they they wouldn't normally be able to do, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to transform into some kind of mozart. Oh and by the way, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder couldn't read music either, so I wouldn't worry about it. ;-)
  2. I have to be honest, some of you people are very very....i dont know....well informed on pretty much anything i could ever have a question about.. relating to science that is. So uh...cheers!
  3. Oh its not just relativity thats confusing..its life in general.
  4. 1st off i guess i should have looked around for this in previous posts, so i apologize for that. 2nd I obviously realize that a car cant travel at the speed of light. It was more of a "what if" question. 3rd..physics is crazy. I would never have thought that it would look the same. 4th thanks.
  5. I was reading a book the other day and one of the characters was talking about his physics class. He was trying to explain to his friend that physics was cool. but she just wasn't buying it. To get her to realize that it's actually interesting he gave an example of some of the questions. His example was "Say you're traveling at the speed of light in your car, and you turn on the high beams, what happens?" What was said in response to this in the book is unimportant, but it got me thinking. What would happen. If you have any idea at all let me know...and please...and explanation would be nice. ;-)
  6. ty everyone for the great answers. I have to go and tell my dad that he was right...again.....oh well. maybe this will be on a test someday. thanks again!!
  7. i knew that wind was the transfer of energy from particle to particle...really fast, but i thought that there were particles in space.....but then again im only 15 and i never really payed attention while learning about space. I seem to remember hearing about solar winds though.....what r those, cuz they sound a lot like wind to me........from the sun.....
  8. i often have discussions with my dad about what is and is not possible without the pressence of air. The other day for instance he asked me if it is possible to have wind without air. EX: if i was in space and a comet blew by will i feel wind from the comet's passing? I told him that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so i figured that if i waved a fan (action) there would be a felling of wind (reation). This was just a guess....i dont really know what im talking about. If anyone knows the answer to the question, can there be wind without air, please post and let me know....preferably with an explanation that will prove or dissprove this theory. ---alcanfor-----
