  1. I'm not... China' date=' despite it's economic growth is retaining the production aspects that the US lost duing the 50's and 60's. China stole US jobs on the production level and now will be stealing US jobs in other levels as well.

The US, as a service and consumer-base economy can't stand up to that, which worries me.[/quote']

I am because the US has been in power for a while, and we're starting to annoy other countries. In some ways, I'm happy to see China be the world Super Power. In others, I'm not. I'm pretty much speculating on them starting a war, not saying they definately will. China is probably not likely to do that, but instead build their economy.

  2. No.

Well' date=' yes. It matters for a few reasons: -

    1) You have presented the copyrighted property of a company that has expressly asked that the answer not be given. It would be polite to respect that wish.

    2) If the answer is given, then the Admins may get a request to delete the thread from the institute when the thread propagates.

    3) Providing the answer will undermine the effectiveness of the test for people who google for answers during quizzes.

    4) Because the question is copyrighted material, posting it without the thread citing reference is in breach of the forum rules. My post showing the source protects the site.

I have no idea. It's possible, I suppose. It's not my request, you would have to take it up with the International High IQ society. I'm guessing it's a preventative measure rather than an infallible system.

I don't really mind either way, I'm just mentioning it.[/quote']

IF you had at IQ of 96, would you be intelligent enough to do that in the first place?

  3. This maze seems relatively easy' date=' actually - just let yourself wander along a path, and go in a different direction if you find yourself in the same place, as there are no dead ends. Then erase the loops, and you have a short path.

    -Uncool-[/quote']

Indeed. I did it in about 7 minutes, however it was fun. I had to retrace my path many times. The fact it loops around is what makes it difficult at first. However, I still found it easy without erasing loops.

  4. From what I gather (from Wikipedia :embarass:) the main (and first) evidence for the existence of dark matter was gathered by measuring the light emitted from galaxies compared with their rotational speed. There was so little visible matter in the galaxies that with their high spin rate' date=' they should not stick together but fly apart from centrifugal force, according to standard theories of gravitation.

Well my theory is that the dark matter is simply black holes. We have strong evidence that massive black holes exist at the center of our Galaxy and others. They are invisible, and they are what holds the galaxies together. Any cosmologists here that can check my theory?[/quote']

I have to disagree. Light, being made of particles, is trapped in a black holes gravitational pull. In that sense, the reverse would have to be true for darkness. It'd have to be made of particles, and therefore be trapped in light. (If anyone has ever read Discover magazine, read anything you can find on "gravity" waves if two black holes were to collide.) Is darkness a particle form? I'd say it's not, only because it doesn't move. Darkness is merely an absense of light. (I could EASILY be very wrong, so excuse me if I am.) Anyone care to correct me?

  5. I believe this could result in a final "world war". China is in a good position to fight a war if someone crazy gets in power. However, they did release a plan to decrease military size earlier this year. I'd rather see China helping the world instead of taking it over, and I'm for the side of it more likely helping it. China is slowly catching up with us, and in a some ways, I'm happy to see the change of power from west back to east.

  6. Thanks guys. Yeah, I'll agree. IQ tests are worthless, however I'm still curious what my "real" IQ is. Turning an abtract thing into something concrete, like numbers, is very ineffective. One kid may get a 100 on the IQ test, but then another kid whom is obviously less intelligent than him gets a 120. That shows nothing. IQ gives "intelligent" people the ability to have pissing contests. I still appreciate the sources, and I'll check them all out.

  7. Sorry, but here's a bit of problem. ;x The guy could have been running an IP spoofer. I know some that run 20-120 dollars, and you can use them to change your IP on the internet. (Or at least mask it.) One way to know if you've been hacked is this. On XP, go to Start<Run<then type Command, and then type Net Statistics Server. Now, look at "Sessions Accepted" If it says "1" you should be okay. If it says 2 or more "OMG U GOT H4X0R3D". (Or at least your PC was.) Seriously, it should only say 1. Everything else should probably be 0. (there are exceptions to this, but it does help.)

  8. Does anyone have any good IQ tests to take? I've always been curious about my IQ, and those crappy ones from the book store are obviously not good. If I can get a near perfect score on the adult one, odds are it's false. anyway, I'd like to take one that's at least half-decent, if one exists.

  9. Phi for All' date=' I totally agree with you. By not teaching a child to face the real world would be even more damaging when they grow older, mentally they may not even mature.

I just wondering why the authorities keep suggesting or implementing crazy ideas that majority of us don't even agree to? Is it becuase they have more senses than us, or they just simply out of touch with reality?[/quote']

I'm one of few kids that actually knows how sick and screwy the world is. Not everyone is bad, but there are molesters, robbers, rapists, murderers, kidnappers, stupid politicians, corrupt police, and people die every day. I've never bought into that happy go lucky Disney BS. Trying to shun every child from a world of danger is only good in one sense. If every child grows up not knowing what murder is, perhaps they'll never do it when they are an adult. But assuming someone does, maybe they'd not treat it as a crime as it should be, and then everyone would go around killing each other, not understanding how bad it is actually. But, the reverse could also be true. Perhaps not letting your children ever see murder would cause them to never do it, because the idea would less likely ever come to them.

  10. I swear if I hear one more story about a family being kicked out of their expensive hotel rooms or otherwise "re-victimized" I'm gonna barf up a lung. What have these people been DOING for the last few months' date=' aside from sitting around waiting for handout after handout?

One idiot on ABC News last night actually had the hutzpa to stand there in her Residence Inn suite (which I paid for) with her children eating dinner behind her (which I paid for), sporting a closet full of new clothing (which I paid for), and scream into the cameras, "They keep saying that we're going to get some help, but it NEVER COMES!"

    (sigh)

That having been said, I know there are some folks down there who have been validly and understandably extra-harmed by various circumstances, including FEMA mistakes, price-gouging and insurance fraud, and I have no problem with those folks getting a little more time and assistance to get back on their feet.

But there are two other aspects of this that really irk me, and suggest that some hard-love governance is in order:

    - New Orleans is BEGGING for labor. They cannot get enough of it. Illegal immigrants are shipping in by the truckload to take HIGH paying jobs that former residents REFUSE to move back for. (Easier to sit on your bum and beg for another free $2,000 debit card?)

-In the areas (mainly Texas and Georgia) where large numbers of New Orleans poor were shipped after the hurricane, the crime rates have SKYROCKETED. What a nice way to repay your hosts!

I know the latter is a bit of a straw man -- obviously not everyone there is a criminal, and a few bad apples are making the rest look bad. But you KNOW that's gonna have an impact.

I have an uncle who lives in Louisiana who was saying that he felt it may be the best thing that ever happened to both the city and to those people, over the long haul. The horrendous crime rate of New Orleans has now been spread out, which means it can actually be dealt with more effectively now, by non-corrupt law enforcement units all over the country.

And perhaps more to the point, many (if not all) of the communities these refugees (and let's face it, anybody still on the dole at this point IS a "refugee") were shipped to, unlike New Orleans and Louisiana, do NOT have large state welfare programs that you can get by on from generation to generation. They'll HAVE to go back to work. They just won't have any choice. (That's probably one of the reasons they're pestering the federal government so hard.)

    Thoughts?[/quote']

I love how they blame the federal government for a local government error. "OH IT WAZ BUSHZ FALT DAT DA LEVIZ BROK" "HEZ A MUDERR" (Oh, it was Bushs fault the levies broke. He's a murderer.) He's a murder eh? Was he surfing around New Orleans with a Katana lopping peoples heads off? Nah. The levies breaking was obvious. I remember learning about them two years ago, and I was like..."A Cat 3 could probably flood New Orleans." I was watching CNN, and some professor said a first year engineering student would have seen the flaw in it. Guess what? A 6th grader saw a flaw in it. It's a local government issue. We're the United States, each state governs itself to a large extent. And we're supposed to help people shooting at the helpers? Looting stores? Refusing to leave? Yeah, they wouldn't leave. Forget leaving, although it was unsanitary, animal/plague ridden, anarchy, and violence. No, don't leave, nevermind that, especially when you can get yourself a new TV. "DA HERACAN DUN TOK ALL MAH SHEWZ" Oh, so now you need 10 pairs of 100 dollar shoes? Right. Quit your bitching, and leave like every other sensible person.
