  1. umm Hydrogen + Chlorine wont become liquid it needs to be diluted in water (mabye bubbled thro water not sure)
  2. Oxygen and Hydrogen gas can be produced by Electrolysis in sulfuric acid
  3. On another note, is it possible to make Fe3O4 instead of Fe2O3 thro electrolysis or something?
  4. hmm.. im not sure but iron by it self does almost nothing under h2o2 alone, same with Aluminium.
  5. Has anyone tryed Electrolysis by mixing 30% h2o2 with some sodium chloride and running 12vdc to it? i put 2 iron nails in this mixture and ran 12volts to it, it bubbled and gave off so much gas/heat and around 3cm worth of iron had disapeared within 5minutes

  10. Could, say 70% HNO3 be stored in anything other than Glass bottles? i read somewhere that it can be stored in Telfon
  11. i think your better of reading a book or something. also it would be good if u made a habit to edit ur post to add something new that pops up in ur head right after u post something. Ammonium Nitrate is extremly hygroscopic, i left some out for 2 hours and i came back and it was liquid... also if u were to purify it and then evaporate the filtrate it its good to do it at <100*c heat. i once did it higher and the ammonium nitrate ended up melting with the water or something and it turned in to something brown very much same characteristic as candle wax
  12. err KNO3:AL doesnt ignite(without sulfur).. and if it did u proablly need 600+ mesh flake AL.. my 400mesh with kno3 dont do anything cant even start it with a sparkler which i use to initiate thermite
  13. would melting kno3 and running electricity in to it form k + no3 thus creating nitric acid? i assume the K would be rather dangerous
  14. i had mine bubbling. couldnt actually smell it, even if i put my nose on to the fumes, the smell was very very little (wasnt irritating to eyes either).
  15. hmm im not sure tho but h2so4 doesnt smell. mine is relativly pure. higher than 90% - i been told it should..
  16. Intresting - tho when i mix Kno3 with conc. H2SO4 i get white fumes and nothing else (the fumes smell like bleech i think) shouldnt i expect red fumes ?
  17. anywho, i got my flask and filled up it up with 46% h2so4 (battery acid) up to 250ml, its been under gas fire heat (bubbling also) for about 1 hour now, but it havent reduced in ammount, or have i noticed "white fumes"

  20. i did that once, 20grams when up in smokes, took nearlly 2 hours for the smoke to clear off, couldnt see much in the kitchen. looks like i gotta wait till school starts so i can "borrow" glass ware from class.
  21. I just got Sulphuric acid from a local Auto shop.. 46% pure 1L for $6.. looked cheap:) Anyway to purify this, I would need to boil the water. Now to do this, it has to be done in a glass jar.. Could i use a normal "jam" glass jar(or a glass coke bottle?) or its going to break and spill acid all over the place? or does it have to be a proper, say a lab-grade flask? Same question applys to preparing nitric acid (Using KNO3) except using 2 glass coke bottles attached by neck and distilling it thatway

  23. Hmm on the topic of Thermite, i went and bought 500g of OXIDE Powder, which was redish brown. It didnt say if it was IRON or not, and it was used for cement colouring, so im assuming its iron oxide..(is there a way to test if it is?) Also, How fine does the aluminium have to be for thermite? i have to make my aluminium powder as every thing here is illegal because everyone is scared of terrorism
  24. Wouldnt as soon as you optain the sodium metal it would ignite because of the heat required to melt the NaCl is well above the ignition temp for sodium metal?
