  1. I agree with reor, and have actually developed, a not complete thesis on parallel timelines each with alternating time flows. My father gave me the idea and we talked about it for awhile. It makes some sense and explains as to how time travel might be possible, but we have no idea how it would be done. One would have to break out of his or her timeline. Then again, based on perception we each have our own time line which makes up a gigantic one which is life.
  2. I think he means that they will cancel eachother out elimating the paradoxical element to your example. I have always thought of time as an illusion, a measurement of change fabricated by human minds. Progression, decay, time, its all made of two things: Change and perception. Time changes with different perceptions. That includes the cryogenically freezing yourself thus 'traveling forward in time', when in reality, we do such each second. Are we not traveling forward in time everyday? In a sense, I suppose a form of forward time travel is possible. Although I cannot see how we could ever be able to travel in the past: for it does not exist.
  3. I'm sure that could go both ways, depending on the age or maturity of the students, some might look out the window on purpose, to make a stand. That also, could in fact help with discipline, but as for shadowing the work, I'm sure they could put blinds on it and just use the overhead lights for that. I think that the window should be to the side of the class, but partially away from the students, It would make the classroom feel more open, and even more comfortable. These are just my thoughts though..
  4. No he's right, but that of course will only be understood by the non-atheists here. I have actually written a time thesis dealing with it. Yes, criticize all you like, but there are many examples that deal with science. A majority of the paper is on time, but some of the examples I give are from the Bible. If any one is interested, which I doubt many if not any of you are, PM me and I'll tell you a bit about it.
  5. Yes, darn that emu! Anyway, I too believe dreams are just our minds making sense of random thoughts, fears, or desires we think about while we sleep. Of course, dreams are also affected by obsessive thoughts and/or feelings we have. Such as if someone is severely depressed, they might have a dream of a suicidal nature... Dreams can also be affected by important memories or just, anything of any important nature. I'm not saying that I know exactly what I'm talking about, but these are just some of my opinions.
  6. I would say those were coincidental at best, I have often had dreams which integrated sounds I heard into them. Such as I was having a dream about me being at school, I heard loud beeping noises and became curious and went to find it, as it became louder and louder, I slowly started to awaken. It was my alarm clock causing the last part of my dreams. I have heard, and do believe in some dreams seeing into the future, but from what I hear about your son, it just seems that he is being awoken by loud noises he hears and then dreams about.
  7. Thats if you belive in evolution of course, I dont think it has been proven as an axiom. Yes thats what many people believe, but the Big Bang theory is just that, a theory. I know what a clock is but thank you for simplifying the inner workings of one. I know what you mean, you can set your watch to any time you want, but the 'right' time is still accurate. Accurate to what? What exactly defines the right time? And like I said, time is possibly different to each person since it "only matters in your own reference frame" then I suppose I can make it whatever time I want??
  8. I agree with Maioux, I believe that time is a fabricated illusion that humanity made to keep track of certain events or dates.Time in my opinion does not exist. We think of time and clocks are the most common relation we imagine. But when did time start, when does it end? What truely is the clock measuring? Also, time is perceived by everyone differently, 'time' stops when someone dies, but keeps going to someone else. Then theres the Atomic Clock, when did that start? How exactly did they know at what 'time' to set it? I really dont believe time exists, more of an aid to people everywhere.
