  2. HI I was wondering if i let milk spoil for a while and then filtered the curds out and distilled the liquid would that give me a clean solution of lactic acid.
  3. I would like to make some gluconate salts for samples but i need some gluconic acid. I would appreciate it if you guys could please tell me how to make some. Thanks. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedIt would be nice if someone could answer my question.
  4. lets say if i want a solution of hcl and h2o2 to make copper chloride from elemental copper how much 30% h2o2 should i add to the hcl i think its around 30% or 35%. this is not for school its just for hobby chemistry.
  5. when you mix hcl and h2o2 what gas is made.
  6. Hi i am gunna start making chemistry videos and posting them on youtube but i am not sure what my channel name should be so i am taking suggestions for my youtube name. just please make it cool and awesome. thanks.
  7. just remember to always add the acid to the water slowly cuz it will get really hot if you do it to fast and the thermal shock might break the glass.
  8. i dont have a favorite i like them all but i will to say my top 5 they always change. this is not in order of liking. copper cuz it looks awesome and its the first metal i made a compound with. nitrogen cuz liquid nitrogen and nitric acid. mercury cuz its cool. titanium cuz its so light but also hard. and zinc cuz its easy to melt and do sand casting plus its cheap.
  9. well if you watch you tube videos periodic table of videos he is a professer in the university of nottingham and he held it with his bare hands
  10. please hurry i need some flexible tubing for gases to pass through it like (HCL gas) (chlorine gas) and (nitrogen dioxide) and i dont want it to react with the plastic tubing so what kind of plastic tubeing should i get. rember it must be flexible:D please hurry:D
  11. because i like to make my own chemicals. made it other ways i just wanted to know if i could make it this way.
  12. i need some sulfur to make some black powder. is there a store i can buy some at besides the internet? and also if i burn sulfur it will decompose to sulfur dioxide and then i could bubble that through water to make sulfuric acid right?
  13. ok thanks any more? not crystals
  14. I have made a load of copper acetate and i dont know what to do with it. Can someone tell me some experiments i can do with it.
  15. it was just a plain glass jar and the water was tap there were bubbles on both electrodes. i have another question what will happen if i use electrolysis on alcohol? or on a solution of alum? or on 30% H202 (Hydrogen peroxide)
  16. i am using table salt and the electrodes are made of copper. the salt i used says it does not supply iodide. so do you think the thick orange stuff is chlorine it does not smell like it how can i find out. and whats the pink stuff . is there any other possible chemicals in the solution.
  17. cool thanks i will try that
  18. i am doing electrolysis on a highly saturated solution of sodium chloride in a glass in the first 10 minutes the solution was yellow and only a salty smell.10 mins after that about an inch of thick stuff on top it was dark orange and the rest was not thick and was also dark orange and the very bottom of the glass was about an inch of clear almost colorless but a tiny bit of pinkish color . i stoped here just in case can some please tell what all this is and what would of happend if i let it go on longer like much longer. anyone that sees this and knows please tell me. thanks Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedupdate i collected the pink stuff and then i mixed the solution and let it settle on the bottom for about an hour and there was a very thin layer of stuff on to very thick layer on the bottom and in middle it was ver clear no color at all i also collected this. so again please tell me what all this is thanks
  19. i have no idea what i made i was doing electrolysis an and a saltwater solution. light blue green color started forming in the solution what is this. i also noticed both electrodes were bubbeling the one bubbeling more im guessing is hydrogen and the one bubbeling less is chlorine i also notice the one bubbeling less is dissolveing so whats in the solution please tell me thanks. i also did this with one electrode copper and the other an aluminum pop tab the aluminum dissolved and the solution was grey and thick please tell me what happend.
