  1. I guess that is clever, but that would fall under #2 and/or #1.
  2. I was looking to create a list of hypotheses for the existence of everything. It would be helpful to just stick to the list, instead of giving comments or telling which one you subscribe to. 1. Unguided self-creation (something from nothing, quantum mechanics, space fabric, big bang etc etc etc.) 2. Infinite space, time, matter 3. Guided creation (i.e. god or a deity) 4. 5. etc. These are really the only three I can come up with

  4. It's definitely a lot of work. You should be dedicated and love it. Think about what life is all about (i.e why are we here) then decide what you want to do with your life in this world.

  6. Quarks were formed during inflation in the big bang. The smallest amount of time we can extrapolate back towards the big bang to is 10^-43 seconds, where it is thought the temperature was 10^32 and a density that is not describable. So during this time, it is thought there is only one force; a combination of four forces. So the question is, where did the forces come from? Where did matter and temperature come from? Is this unknown unless you invoke M theory or the uncertainty principle? Also can someone explain the uncertainty principle. Does nothing mean absolute nothing? Or does nothing mean not matter but forces and vacuum?

    Cells?

    What's the difference between living and dead cells? Can you duplicate the arrangement of atoms to create a living cell? How do you duplicate the information and the deciphering system?
  9. So is there a general rule for breathing techniques i.e how much oxygen we should intake; and is there a general rule for specific foods and/or how much to eat for antioxidants. Basically how much antioxidants should be consumed daily. I am sure it varies by height, weight, body etc. But is there a general antioxidant intake rule?
  10. I often hear or read about the need for antioxidants to prevent such things as cancer. Doctors recommend eating lots of foods rich in antioxidants. But then I see articles such as this on http://www.cancersalves.com/checklist/red_blood.html that talks about too little oxygen not being healthy and the need for lots of oxygen. I even see water machines that are supposed to add more oxygen to your drinking water. So is there a fine line between the amount of oxygen we need? Or do antioxidants work in a different way? Do we need a lot of oxygen? Should we have oxygen generators or hundreds of plants in our homes? Should we practice breathing techniques and taking deep breaths? Where do antioxidants come into play while doing all this?
  11. I guess what I was really trying to ask was in regards to cellular differentiation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_differentiation I was confused here. I was looking at the information or cells being carried by and/or created by zygote formation; whether there were preliminary cells that had to be in existence. But cellular differentiation explains where I was getting held up.
  12. I was looking for a detailed account of human procreation. Does sperm contain the preliminary information that tells to host how to form the embryo, i.e. the first cells, blood, bones, organs etc. Sperm is a cell correct? So it carries the information that details how other cells are created? Do polypeptides make up tissue and if so what happens after polypeptide synthesis? Do the polypeptides sequence differently to create tissue, etc. Or is everything in the human body made up of cells and the initial sperm cell has the information for the creation of all the other cells?
  13. On an average day there is roughly 21% oxygen in the air we breathe. A person on average takes in about 250 L or air per hour via breathing. Does the human body respond or act differently to higher concentrations of O2 oxygen? Do people with hundreds of plants in their home, or an oxygen generating system become healthier, more energetic, etc. etc. Have there been studies on low concentrations of oxygen vs high concentrations of oxygen for humans? - What is the minimum about of oxygen a human needs? Is there a maximum?
  14. I see. And would this be any different with less of an ozone layer or an early earth atmosphere; or is the environment not relevant and that is just the properties of UV?

During the early stages of earth there was no O2 atmospheric oxygen, no living things, no photosynthesis, no ozone layer etc. I have been reading that this would have allowed pure UV radiation to penetrate deep onto earth. How would this have affected the creation of adenine, amino acids etc. and the first single celled organisms? Would they have had to been sheltered in a cave? Could the UV radiation penetrate the surface of the earth? Could it penetrate down to the bottom of the ocean?

  17. What are some good science websites, to learn about how the universe was made, how the earth was made, DNA, life, biology, astronomy, physics etc.
  18. Okay, got it. It is thought that asteroids blasted the earth and brought in most of the water from space. Then it rained for millions of years. This is estimated 4.4 billion years ago, so there would have been all the water on the earth prior to the emergence of the first single-celled organism 2 billion years ago. This would have produced some atmospheric oxygen. So then how would you counter the statement that the hydrogen cyanide, ammonia solution becoming oxidized which would not allow adenine to be produced? Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedIts like if you say there was oxygen, adenine couldn't have been produced. But if you say there was no oxygen, ester bonds could not have been formed. How do you address this?
  19. I have been recommending this YouTube video to people, which seems to be pretty well done. But I have been getting questions back, which I couldn't really answer. I have received some comments about how the hydrogen cyanide and ammonia solution would become oxidized and would not produce adenine. But the response to that is that there was no oxygen in the earth's early atmosphere. - A good video to watch is "How the earth was made" a 2 part History channel documentary. Question: In DNA and RNA, where did ester bonds come from? Esters are chemical compounds derived by reacting an oxoacid with a hydroxyl compound such as an alcohol or phenol. However, according to scientific theory, in the earth's early atmosphere there was no oxygen, so how could phosphodiester bonds have been formed to make up the backbone of DNA, since ester bonds require oxygen? Without these bonds, you couldn't have DNA or RNA.
  20. When you hear people talk about the "information" in DNA, are they referring to the ordering/sequencing of the bases(AGCT)? The bases themselves are not information, correct? It is only information or instructions, once the bases are ordered properly, so are people talking about this order information, or the information that tells the bases how to be ordered?
  21. Thanks for the reply. Is the idea of an intelligent designer a potential answer at anytime? People look at the complexity of the cell, DNA, flagellar motor etc. and the creation of the universe, starting with the big bang. And we don't yet really know the origin of life, so is an intelligent designer a possible answer? - I am not talking about the God of the bible or any other creators. But just the idea of an intelligent designer with an evolutionary algorithm. Is this a crazy idea, or could it be possible?
