  1. As per Exchemist see your hygienist/Dentist. Things that can stain your teeth are things like coloured foods, tannins in tea, tobacco and wine. .
  2. Your post has nothing to do with the thread topic- that was my comment- not sure why it showed in the quote box.
  3. Yes it is not straightforward. It was not a matter if the Hebrews being polytheistic then suddenly just start worshipping one god Yhwh. Or had one view and one view only on the nature of god and the afterlife. Historians make a best guess as to what happening at what times based on the available evidence. Then I can read their general readers books on the subject and discuss it with you guys! Phew, I'm not sure. For man's origins, I wanted to start from the very beginning in terms of the paleontology, the history. That might not be the best way for you to do it. It is a fantastic story though! Raymond Dart, Eugene Dubious, The Leaky family, Rift Valley, Olduvai gorge, Lucy, Ardi and more recently Homo naledi. @TheVat UG was Biology so I will ping him in. "The Origin of our species" Chris Stringer, is a great starter and does not scrimp on technical details! It is a beautiful story, interesting, it is our history. I will check in tomorrow.
  4. M not the author. I am recommending the book but it is not a completely new idea. Even Hitchens mentioned it. The point is it was not always like that in Jewish thinking and Jesus did not think that either.
  5. @Sarae.the.wannabe.chemist So on the question of the soul say how do you go from science back to the Bible? It turns out that is a very interesting question not from the Biology/biochemistry side but from how the ancients thought about the body, the soul and the afterlife. The ancient Israelites for instance did not have the concept of the soul at all in their thinking, this was a much later idea. God breathed life into Adam and when he died when people die, that life was gone. I would look into the meaning of the word Sheol, it does not mean hell as I was taught, it means “pit” or “grave” because when you died you were simply dead. Same with “Gehenna” in the NT, this was not meant to be hell either, it was a real valley outside Jerusalem. Platonic thinking did influence things regarding the afterlife, along with the concept of reward for a good life and punishment for a bad one. A very good overview of how these themes were adopted then adapted in the book “Heaven and Hell” by Bart Ehrman. https://ehrmanblog.org/heaven-and-hell-in-a-nutshell/
  6. That is not how it works, YOU are making the claim it is up to YOU to provide evidence. A coupe of things on that. You called it a discovery, it isn’t. You said it is problem of physics, it isn’t. “Cured completely” – Someone with a real digestive illness could read this and be misled, that is harmful. “If the patients’ job doesn’t allow them to stand” – What patients? You do not have patients, you are not a Dr. “Completely solve this problem and will probably annihilate chronic constipation on this planet.”- Silly hyperbole. “This discovery also reveals the cause of constipation” -How? There is no study under controlled methods, there is no paper, there is no discovery.
  7. Here you go. https://www.sciforums.com/threads/the-stunning-revolutionary-and-historic-discovery-of-the-cause-of-and-the-perfect-cure-for-chronic-constipation.166897/page-4 What is particularly annoying is that he kept posting the same OP throughout the thread without really engaging. When it was locked and sent to the garbage he simply reposted it. Complete contempt for the site rules.
  8. Just established, evidence based science that is taught and demonstrated to students. Since you do not seem to be aware of any of this biology this may help. https://www.msdmanuals.com/home/brain-spinal-cord-and-nerve-disorders/autonomic-nervous-system-disorders/overview-of-the-autonomic-nervous-system
  9. We got there. Yes the brain controls the body. The brain which is part of our body and inside our skull is a natural, biological feature of the human body. Brain surgeons do surgery on it, drugs affect it, injury affects it, learning changes it, disease can destroy it. All natural. That is because it is involuntary like snoring, hormone secretion, oxidative phosphorylation, acid reflux, peristalsis, protein synthesis, muscle cramps, immune response, hiccups and plenty of other understood perfectly natural phenomena. You could start a new thread? Regarding the evidence you have for biology, supernatural?
  10. They will eat less meat more veg because of religious requirements and less processed foods because of availability and costs. More traditional preparations of food rather than fast food. Alcohol and cigarettes probably less too? I am not saying Indians do not smoke and drink, I am saying culture wise this will be not like the West. Just my thoughts.
  11. Not to anyone who has studied physiology. Just a question, if heart beat, BPM is supernatural how come I can slow it down with a beta blocker? How come I can speed it up with adrenaline?
  12. To an extent depending on whether I am running, holding my breath, eating, fasting, taking medication, giving blood, taking a nap. What's your point? Do you think biochemistry and physiology are supernatural? Cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology and digestion and respiration are not supernatural either. Those processes are well understood and taught to undergraduates.
  13. If you prefer. It is a natural biological feature i.e. NOT supernatural.
  14. Yes, brain, head and body all natural biological features. Part of our body. What people? What do you mean separate? The brain is simply part of our body as stated.
  15. A physician did try and measure the soul by taking readings immediately before and after death in 1907. It was pretty much rejected by the scientific community. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/21_grams_experiment
  16. No, many many biochemical pathways, organelles, cells, tissues, and organs have been dissected, studied, worked out and manipulated by scientists. All natural. Our brain does that, an organ consisting of cells, neurones, blood, neurotransmitters etc. All natural.
  17. Everyone agrees there is intelligence. There are different methods of assessment, measurements that are active areas of research but it exists, whatever way we define it.
  18. It isn't. Science is a method for finding out about the Universe, Religion tells us what the Universe is and in the Abrahamic religions, tells us how we should live. I disagree. Yes, via an evolved brain. What science has discovered disproves many Biblical claims. Some scientists have pushed back on religious groups that have and are imposing themselves on science education. Since Science is concerned with the natural world and relies on empirical data, while religion relies on the supernatural, personal experience and revelation, science and religion will never take the same approach.
  19. You have to be told the exact same things all over again? Seriously? This thread was closed and sent to the cesspool on Sciforums for a reason. You were banned on there for a reason. If you insist on taking your nonsense to any other science platform I happen to be a member of, I will just keep on reporting you.
  20. My login was out too last night for a while. Do not forget that Linnaeus would have been working with extant species not fossils of extinct species. So morphologically speaking he knew we belonged to the ape family, he was not aware of all the other Homo species or Australopithecus species. They were not discovered until 19th and 20th Centuries, over 100 years after the death of Linnaeus. Genesis names man of course too, Adam and the word is derived from the similar words for "earth " which is "Adamah," as god fashions him from the ground. Scholars agree pretty much that there are two creation stories spliced together. That is another thread I think, interesting in its own right.
  21. Species names for us modern humans? We are all Homo sapiens sapiens, all other Homo species are extinct As for the who I would check out the father of the Latin binomial system of species nomenclature and taxonomy Carl Linnaeus. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_for_the_human_species
  22. You have got to be kidding me. You do not learn do you. For the second time this is a science platform, and this is hard science. Not a place for your speculations. I am sure there is a more appropriate SF. Reported.
  23. Oops, yes it's Externo not Abstract Dreamer. Apologies.
