  1. Ok Guys, I'm panicking. I've been one of those "i wanna be a doctor" kids since I could walk. And I pursued that dream until...about 6 months ago. I started out as a bio major in undergrad, hated learning about plants, talked to a bunch of people and settled on an English degree. Five novels courses later I decided I couldn't stand not studying medicine and decided to continue my pre-medicine track. But I was about to turn 23, lose my parents insurance and found myself graduating with my English degree, getting a 'real' job with my own insurance and taking the required chemistry and physics courses I had yet to finish post grad. I have worked in a hospital setting since I was 11. I volunteered throughout middle and high school and then worked at a hospital in different clinics throughout undergrad...and then obtained a job working with an orthopaedic surgeon post grad (which is what i'm currently doing now). I'm assuming it's safe to say that I've had a lot of experience seeing medicine in action Any how, life caught up with me. I've always worked in a hospital, seeing residents and doctors in action knowing that the years of medical school and residency were a necessary evil, having to be on call was just part of the trade and I'd have to deal if I wanted to help people. And then...I started working for a specialty practice that practices out of a smaller hospital than the beast of a facility that MCV was and rather than tons of residents, they have PAs doing the things that I always wanted to do and wrongly assumed that an MD was needed to do it. So I started thinking, and talking, and researching and really--this seems like a great idea. I decided to switch my plans and pursue a slightly different dream. And then I got a C in organic. So My question is to any PA admission gurus out there... Is my best bet to re-take the course and get a better grade? I'm sitting on B's in gen chem, A's in A&P, and my Psych courses and my physics grade is to be determined as I am taking it in the fall. I'm just trying to figure out if my panicking is jusitfied..it is a C in organic as bad as an F? As far as I've learned over the years Organic is the one class that makes or breaks your admission. Am I correct? Or am I completely invalidly informed. I am well aware that although I've chosen a different career path, the acceptance into PA school vs Med School is just as hard and selective so I have to be the best of the best but I'm hoping, praying, and crossing my eyes fingers and toes that maybe with my other high grades and my years of experience in medical settings can help and the C isn't quite as bad as my inner demons are telling me? Advice? Thoughts? Thanks -Pook
