    I don't know if it has been mentioned here, but supposedly the lips have many sensations when kissing something. This may have been what turned kissing into a modern day phenomena where people continue to do it to today. Perhaps kissing someone on the hand allows for a mental stimulation so that you can remember more about the person you are kissing.
