  1. They do. Thats how skin and muscles grow and replace damaged cells. Did you maybe mean meiosis? If you meant meiosis then the answer is no.
  2. I would be interested to hear what your thoughts are on the role of mitochondria in longevity (specifically in humans but it doesn't have to be.) I have drafted an experiment procedure that could potentially deepen our understanding, but I want to find out what already know as a collective. Thank you for your time!
