  1. Carbon can make 4 covalent bonds, so it makes sense for it to make carbon-dioxide with 2-2 covalent bonds. But sulfur can only make 2 covalent bonds, and yet in sulfur-dioxide the sulfur connects to the oxygens with 2-2 covalent bonds. Can someone whose more clever than me explain this please? Also, sorry for my bad english, I am hungarian.
