  1. So I decided to store the sample in room temperature. However as the summer approaches the temperatur in the room where the hair sample is has increased. If I put an air conditioner in the room, how will that affect the hair sample? The hair sample is stored in an envelope.
  2. So with ancestry you mean that a person is for example Irish and with genetics you mean that a person is predisposed for certain disceases etc?
  3. I meant something like this: Lets say that a person is 95% Asian and 5% White, can a person then edit ancestry so that the person is 100% Asian and 0% White?
  4. I have a question about ancestry. Will it be possible and allowed to edit ancestry in the future? Lets say that a person is 95% Asian and 5% White, can a person then edit ancestry so that the person is 100% Asian and 0% White?
  5. I have stored some of them with root, but most of them were not stored with root. I guess that I should have stored all of them with root, since I am interested in presevering DNA as good as possible. Thank you for the tip. However, since the sample is already collected I cannot change the envelope that the storage is stored in.
  6. I doubt, I purchased the envelope either at the gas station or at the grocery store.
  7. Thanks for reply, however, as I aleady have stored the hair in an envolope I do not want to do anything more with the sample itself. However, what I can do is to adjust the humidity in the room.
  8. What should the humidity be? When I store the sample in room temperature.
  9. Hello folks, I want to store saliva samples for a long time that is for more than 7 years. Different companies seems to offer different types of saliva samples. For example, some of them offer saliva samples testing for family background while others offer saliva samples for disease risk. Which type of saliva sample would be best for long-term storage of DNA at home? Have a great day and thank you in advance for answering.

  11. Hello guys, lets say that I store hair in a paper envelope at room temperature. What would the definition of room temperature be? Also, which other considerations should I take? Should the hair sample for example be stored in a dark and dry place. I hope that you guys had a great weekend.:)
  12. Hi. in an article about "DNA Collection and Archiving" I read that hair samples could be stored in a silica desiccant dryer. I live in Norway, so I found a possible source of silica desiccant on a website called realmarine. They seem to have the following types of silica deisscant avilable: http://realmarine.no/produkter/torkemiddel-silica-gel.html Which one of the silica desiccants in the link below would be most suitable for long term storage of hair for at least 5 years? I plan to store the hair in room temperature. Thank you for answering.
  13. Hi, I want to storage DNA in hair for at least 5 years. Does it affect the sample if I clip the hairstraws out with a scissor instead of pulling them out? According to the article in the link below one should pull the hair out: https://www.google.no/amp/s/m.wikihow.com/Collect-DNA%3famp=1 Thank you for reply.
  14. Hello, in an article about «DNA Collection and Archiving» I read that hair samples could be stored in a silica desiccant dryer. Where can I buy a silica desiccant dryer? Thank you in advance for answering.
  15. Do you guys have som input here?:) Have a great weekend.
  16. Thank you for your answer, and I am sorry about my late reply. I have been quite busy the last days. Where can I read more about DNA at home storage? I tried to google it and I found some information here: https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_is_the_best_way_to_store_DNA However, I am looking for more information.
  17. Ok, what if one wants to store DNA at home for 50 years instead. What should be the freezing temperature then? Also, where can one order kits (or other stuff) to do this?
  18. What if one wants to store DNA for 100 years, what should be the freezing temperature then? Have a great weekend by the way.
  19. Yes, DNA storage if that is possible. Only have a normal freezer so one can guess that -80 degrees is not possible.
