  1. 1.No, it's a particular wavelenght. You see it green, a dog sees it in black and white. 2. We are supposed to be much higher than pre-school level. 3. A particular wavelenght emerges from the arrangement of those atoms. 4. Am I not anywhere near to prove it? All the experiments show the photon has zero mass. In the CERN they discovered the Higgs field through experiments.
  2. Green is not an "emergent property", green is an interpretation of a wavelenght made by your conscioussness. Conscioussness is an emergent property? Obvious. But not from matter, as conscioussness works with both matter and energy, and this is scientifically, empirically, proved.
  3. Green emerges from solid, liquid, gas matter as an electromagnetic wave. Conscioussness IS NOT an electromagnetic wave. Can't you see the difference?
  4. All the information our senses take is obtained through the exchange of photons between charged particles. Sight, hearing, smelling...
  5. When I say "light" I mean the elemental particle of the electromagnetic field.
  6. Blind people still hear, smell, talk, touch... they still receive information/photons in the other senses.
  7. Consciousness is not like light... it WORKS with light and matter but it is a distinct phenomenon.
  8. 1.You sure? What about fields? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_(physics) For example, it seems there is the "Higgs Field"... which creates matter... What about a field which creates consciousness? Wasn't Nobel Physics laureate Roger Penrose pointing out to that? 2. Yep. The properties of that particular matter reflect green light (for human consciousness).
  9. Nope. According to my logic your "house" is made by bricks and those bricks are electrons, protons, neutrons, quarks, etc. They can't be anything else.
  10. That's a straw man right there. The only empirical proof we have of consciousness is our personal experience. Cogito ergo sum I don't experience consciousness in your body or in my father's body. According to user John Cuthbert, consciousness is only the product of matter structured in certain way. That would mean that if you structure protons, electrons, neutrons, quarks in certain way you will obtain consciousness, while if your structure protons, electrons, neutrons, quarks in other way you will obtain a handkerchief or a rock, and not consciousness. It doesn't solve the problem because they are still the same things. According to that, consciousness would be the fifth state of matter: Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma, and Conscious. If you both don't agree to this, you are implicitly admitting consciousness doesn't exist. The relation with quantum decoherence is quite understandable. Physics in certain scales work one way and in bigger scales work in a completely different way, with different laws of nature. This is parallel to my former statements about protons, neutrons, quarks, etc. You haven't studied the nature of our universe and the 4 physical forces who govern it, then it's easy to understand your misperception. In pure science (physics), there is no such thing as "separate universes" between the outputs and inputs of a system. A system works with the universe, physicists regard the Laws of Nature as Universal, thanks to the confirmations made by the experiments. Empirically, unequivocally, unquestionably, scientifically, a system works with the Laws of Nature of our universe, and not separated from those Laws of Nature. This means the light/information (one of the 4 forces of Nature) the system uses, is as basic for the functioning of the system as it is the brain or the neuron. Laws of nature are universal for all the systems involved. I invite you to know more about the electromagnetic field. QED (Quantum Electrodynamics) is the quantum theory for the electromagnetic force. It is the MOST ACCURATE THEORY ever made by the human being. 12 decimal numbers of accuracy:
  11. I explained the argument; for consciusness to happen we need information from our surroundings.
  12. You are wrong again, consciousness doesnt only emerge from brain structure and function, you need to receive light/photons/information/electromagnetism from your surroundings for consciusness to happen.
  13. If we take into account your explanation, we still have the same problem we have with quantum decoherence.
  14. What your own source precisely says is "The definition of life is controversial". Second paragraph. Its completely logic, you cannot measure "life". You can measure energy, mass, pressure, speed, electric potential, etc.
  15. I have to correct you. When you say "electrochemical processes" you are assuming thats a diferent field from electromagnetic physics. It is not. "Chemistry" doesnt really exist, chemistry is pure nomenclature. Chemistry is, in fact, physics. Chemical bonds are explained by Physics. Electromagnetism is produced by the existence of charged particles, not "biology".
  16. 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement (third paragraph) 2. 3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement#Naturally_entangled_systems Quantum entanglement occurs in living beings, such as plants. Photosynthesis encompasses this phenomenon. This is a very recent discovery.
  17. Light can be a wave or a particle, depending on the experiment you make. Wise thinkers have been debating this since Ancient times. Democritus, Aristotle, Newton, Maxwell, etc.
  18. We still don't know what is "life" exactly. Biologists say the fundamental unit of life is the cell... what makes cell special regarding the other matter (they all have protons, electrons, neutrons, quarks, etc)?
  19. God as the character we see in the Bible or the Qu'ran is absolutely irrational and ridicolous. "God" as some sort of philosophical idea, as Spinoza postulated it... well, you can divagate.
  20. Consciousness works with information (electromagnetism), and the fundamental particle of the electromagnetic field, the photon, has zero mass, it is not matter, but energy. I know we need the nervous system for consciousness to happen, but this would be the "hardware", not the "software". I'm not saying consciousness exists because of God or anything like that, don't get me wrong, but I have to say "materialism" is a conception already discarded by quantum mechanics advancements, as we look at most models of fundamental particles (there are fundamental particles without mass, and different "fields"). Materialism is nowadays as discarded as Biblical creationism. I think Quantum Mechanics can give us some leads regarding consciousness. Information/light/electromagnetism is explained by Quantum Mechanics, not biology. Biologists should accept physicians are going to enter their field.
