  1. I would look into his upbringing. You didn't mention the most important part of a childs life his parents.you will find, there is always a reason
  2. And there are very good reasons to as well. They don't know the cause of any so called mental illness yet,let alone the treatment. As for the medication: quote royal college of psychiatry "we are not sure how they work but we believe......." not really concrete scientific proof is it? Also if they knew what they were doing I wouldn't have been given Anti-Psychotics for a condition which I never had,and supposedly the best drugs for Anxiety (Benzodiazepines) they are not allowed to prescribe for an Anxiety condition because they got that wrong as well after it passed the guinea pig tests in their labs I wouldn't give them 2 minutes of my time again. I don't really need some rich kid who spent a few years at med school with a a pile of books to tell me about Mental Health issues I've had far better results with exercise and group self help methods I believe there are cures for most if not all Mental Health problems if they only took the time(which none of them are willing to give their patients) to help solve the underlying Psychological issues which triggered it all off
  3. "We are going in there [the brain] with the equivalent of a bulldozer to knock down roads and tear up rail lines and pull down telegraph exchanges. You have to ask, do we know enough to play these kinds of games with other people's brains?" Paul Mullen Professor of Forensic Psychiatry Australia (1999) Yes,I've been to Psychiartrists and left not trusting any of them
  4. The definition of Psychiatry - To diagnose, treat and prevenr mental illness. But as you know Psychiatry has never fixed anything
  5. dvk. I also believe forced Psychiatric drugging is inhumane. It wouldn't be so bad if they knew the effects of these dangerous drugs but they don't,and fail to look into the cause of the problem. More and more evidence is emerging that Psychiartic drugs cause permanent brain damage. Once they have you on that Poison they keep upping the dose all the time until the patient is a complete Zombie and abused like a guinea pig for their own use. There victims gradually get worse and worse not better. Once Susan Florence was placed on medication, whenever she experienced a side effect from one drug, her doctor simply prescribed another until she ended up in a drug-induced frenzy for which it would have been impossible to distinguish which drug, or combination thereof, was causing the adverse reactions. http://www.opednews.com
  6. I was going without sleep for 10 days in a row for years. Dunno about Hallucinating but it definately makes you go Insane,or you think you are anyway
  7. What is abnormal or normal behavior? It's normal to do a robot 9-5 job like everyone else, but not normal to run around the streets naked Who is more normal someone who is too happy or too depressed
  8. Nice bunch of theories there Joema. It all looks good on paper...... YT2095.It could be that the Psychs have had it wrong for decades.Instead of targeting the Neurotrasmitters they should be looking at ways of reducing stress. It could be that a stressful life event triggers the increase of the stress hormone. I wonder if I should inform my shrink? or will they continue to give out SSRi drugs which have been repoted to increase Anxiety and suicide rates
  9. Some Psychs are now saying that changes in seratonin and other neurotrasmitters are not the cause of depression, instead relating it to the Cortisol hormone
  10. There is a definate external cause of the stress/anxiety/fear here. You will find there always is a reason.Psychologists and other therapists can see this, but a lot of Shrinks let themselves be blinded by science preventing them dealing with the real problem
  11. Glider, Do you know about Sleep disorders? I've had Chronic Insomnia for years.Sometimes going without any sleep for 10 day cycles.I think it's down to my crap lifestyle(or lack of) personally.During my initial assessment with the Therapist she said CBT will help. So far I've been on sedating Anti-Depressants(Mirtazapine,Trazadone),Benzos and Hypnotics.I still can't get tired even taking all of them at the same time and they stoped working after a week.So far exercise has been the most beneficial so far. So you can see why I'm not a great believer in Psychiatric drugs.Apparently Insomniacs are the Docs worse patients and I was supprised read In my "say goodnight to Insomnia" book that Docs only have one hour dedicated to sleep disorders throught their entire medical training. According to the Psych and Doc,It's either Anxiety or Depression which is the cause.Personally I'm not sure whether the Insomnia is causing the Anxiety/Depression or the Anxiety/Depression causing Insomnia
  12. Good response Glider. Are you a practicing Psychologist? I am starting CBT soon.I hope it turns out to be more helpful than the Shrinks I saw. You are right to point out that my issue is partly a trust thing as well.Oddly enough I trust my General Doc more with Mental Health issues than dragon Psychiatrist I saw who prescribed me some poison then shoved me out of the door after 5 minutes and said come back in 3 months.I have my Doc saying one thing,Therapist another and Shrink something else.So now I tend to rely on myself than any of them. I find Psychiatry is still very much trial and error experimentation on people. They can only go on how one describes how they feel and half the time someone with a Psychological problem cannot explain what is happening to them unlike with stomache ache or cold. HIV-AIDS, the Heart Foundation are well known, but no-one has heard of charities for schitzophrenia or depression or OCD etc.? It's because people are scared of these conditions. I do believe people are scared of those conditions and the sufferers, because you sometimes hear on the news a Psycho patient has just stabbed someone and pushed them in front of the train,so then they have them all painted with the same brush.
  13. I see Scientists creating Terminator like fetuses by order of the Goverment with 666 chips planted in their heads.
  14. That's nothing new though. The effects of Drugs were known 3-4000 years ago. They still don't know the reasons why drugs do what they do. What I'm saying is that the Medical speciality relating to "Mental Disorders" has very much to learn before I anyway can put 100% trust in these people. Fooling people by saying "take these pills for the rest of your life or you won't get better" is a lie,and they don't tell you 10 years down the line you can end up with worse side effects than the condition you had in the first place.
  15. So,we are saying drugs (legal or illegal) alter the brain and may even result in permanent damage, but so called "Mental Illness" isn't caused purely by substance abuse and Psychiatry still has no way of treating the conditions they label as they don't even know the cause of them. Unlike treating a Heart Attack which is near a 100% medical fact.Psychiatry seems to be about 20% believable and the rest they tell you is about 80% deception. If you've ever been to a Psych you will know what I mean
  16. Interesting understanding. I myself am more inclined to realise that, say Depression and suicidal behaviour for instance are a result of Lifestyle reasons,Stressfull life events, traumatic experience, financial situation etc...that lead to Negative thoughts(depression) rather than an out of the blue "chemical imbalance" theory with no reason behind it. I came across a couple of interesting articles.
  17. Where abouts can I find this? I know that ones Psychological thinking can cause one to act irrationally or depressed, hear voices etc...but not anything Scientifically. I'm ruling out a Physical possibility, but they haven't found one yet
  18. Hello there, Has anyone found some proper medical proof that "Mental Disorders" exist other than in ones own mind. I haven't seen anything that convinces me to believe that high Dopermine levels cause Schizophrenia or low Seratonin causes Depression. If it were true altering these levels would cure the problem. But in reality it is obvious that it doesn't.
  19. I know mommy's not here right now and we don't know why We feel how we feel inside It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby But i promise momma's gon' be alright
  20. Maybe it's early signs of Insanity? It can only get worse
  21. Alcohol acts the Same way as benzodiazaphine drugs. It acts on the GABA receptor supressing communication between brain cells and slowing down brain waves, hence the relaxed feeling.
  22. The all Drugs do is mask up the underlying problem by numbing the brain and causing more damage. The Schizophrenics still hear the voices but turn into Zombies on Anti-Psychotic drugs(this stuff gives people permanent brain damage). The Anti-Depressants might hide their problems for a while, but they soon loose effectiveness and after you stop taking the things you end up worse than you were before.
  23. What is this based on? Everyone knows the Chemical Imbalance theory is a weak one."Oh it must be an Imbalance" the Doc says ,but won't give an answer as to why From personal experience of Depression I can tell you it is caused by none other than enviromental factors, stresses of life, negative thinking and failure etc...Not one day my brain decided to pack up and send me nuts
  24. They are looking for biological causes but none have found any real evidence of any Medical condition relating to "Mental Disorders". It's a bad thing being told that the only chance of getting your sanity back is a lifetime on drugs.
