  1. I've been reading this book, and i really like it, but im wondering what parts are true and which are fiction. I don't care even a little bit about the religious conspiracy aspects, but various things like the church waging a smear campaign against the pentacle are hard to tell between fact and fiction. I'm guessing brown didnt falsify EVERYTHING but i also doubt he never took some artistic license. so if someone could either tell me a few truths from it, or point me to a site with no agenda (religios or non-religious) id really appreciate it.
  2. Theres the classic experiment in which someone is sent into space, rides around at a high speed, and comes back to everyone being older. Im assuming the reasons for this are well understood by the forum community. But what if the people on earth were to build a device capable of tracking the spacemans craft, and sending a video/audio signal to him. How would they appear? would they seem to be moving in a "fast forward" sort of motion, or would they jump ahead as the spaceman decellerated? I have a vague grasp of this, but im looking for some more definite understanding. Also, for the purposes of eliminating variables, the spaceman is moving at about 99.9% of c
  3. IMHO: Time does exist, but not necessarily in the way we precieve it. If it affects everyone chances are pretty good it exists (not for sure though). Its also possible that in a way a collective definition of time validates itself, but thats more the philosophical department.
  4. right but if you know the boundaries of a regular 3 dimensional figure, cant you mathmatically find its center?
  5. hmm dak you should start selling some of these, could make quite a profit. I suppose itd be just targeting people stupid enough to buy it though. Edit: about the ionic breeze, in the houses i've been in that owned it, the house smelled better. This is because people who clean they're house excessively would be likely to buy another product in the field, correct?
  6. Absolutely. Almost anyone claiming something that they arent telling us for free is probably wrong. But i hope most people already knew that.
  7. Yes this is true. Its because: A. The part of your brain responsible for inhibiting your movement while your asleep isn't fully developed (I forgot where in your brain it was) B. You have a lot more stress as a teen generally, leading to more lucid (real seeming, not to be confused with dreams your aware of.) dreams.
  8. I'd say no because your dreams exist in your mind, and your mind exists in/is (whichever theory you follow) your brain, and your brain exists in the universe, so your dreams cant exist both in and out of the universe.
  9. correct me if im wrong, but its pretty well accepted that the universe is spherical. Since spheres have a center you can find if you know its radius, the universe logically has one as well. I often go to my science teacher with this type of question, but even after i explain the above paragraph to them, they still tell me the center is relative. How can this be?
  10. correct me if i dont have any idea what im talking about (it's quite possible) but if an object is moving away it has no blue shift to speak of? edit: disregard that i understand now.
