  1. Thanks for the replies guys (and girls). Its helped a lot.
  2. For my school chemistry coursework (IB level) I have been asked to investigate Redox Reactions. No other prompt. This is making it really difficult for me to think of a focussed research problem to investigate. Help me with ideas please. =) Thanks in advance.
  3. Given this equation: PH2O2-(aq) + OH-(aq) --> PHO32-(aq) + H2(g) How do I determine whether the OH- is acting as an acid or base? Any explanations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  4. What is the best way to manually find the square root of a positive rational number? I understand that it will be an approximation, what what is the way to get the closest possible answer rounded to 2-3 decimal places.
  5. Using the formula for time dilation at relativistic velocities, I think that time would stop.
  6. The formula for carbohydrates is Cn(H2O)m where n does not necessarily equal m.

    Need Help

Quick Question How could I determine the presence of carbohydrates, proteins, pectin, and lipids and fats by using the enzymes amylase, pepsin, pectinase, and lipase? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  8. Thanks for your replies...I guess titration is not the reccomended solution.
  9. Can anyone suggest a titration (or other experiment) to measure the acidity of orange juice? The main problem that I'm faced with is that using an indicator, it is hard to notice the colour change since the orange juice itself is coloured. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks for your reply. These experiments sound really interesting. Could you direct me to a site or a book which contains procedures on how to conduct these experiments?
  11. 1. s = ut + ½ at² will give you a value for the distance, when u is the initial velocity (in your case = 0), a is the acceleration due to gravity, and t is the time. Then use v² = u² + 2as to get an answer for the velocity. Time does not permit a more detailed answer, or answers to the other questions, but I will get back to this as soon as possible.
  12. For a vitally important school assignment, I have to investigate "Chewing Gum" from a physics perspective. Can anyone please suggest any experiments that I coud carry out on chewing gum? I've thought about investigating physical properties, but since they are technically a chemistry topic, i am hesitant to do this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  13. Can anyone confirm this please?
  14. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can tell me how to find out the enthalpy change for the dissolution of ammonium chloride?
