    f=ma ?

We were taught force = mass X acelleration The thing that gets me about that equation is what if the acceleration is so great that it accelerates up to 99.999c dosn't the mass change? I thought that this equation assumes that mass not should be variable on the value of a. Thats what bugs me about it... ~Scott
  2. If i wasn't so tired i would know the name of that thing...Its one of those things that float around in the air, they come out of thisles dont they? Or those yellow flowers whatever their called...Whoa i have a realy bad memory ~Scott
  3. They are primarey explosives, very sensitive and very nasty Personally i would never mess with them.... ~Scott
  4. Because? Well I think that our dreams are just made up of everything we perceive in reality and not linked to this "hyperspace". If however this other dimension is influencing our reality at all times then i can see that is possible to acess it while dreaming but only if we can acess it while awake. But everything is relative is it not? so maybe everything we perceive as our wakeful reality is just a jumbled up version of our dreams and they are the real reality? That realy spins my mind... ~Scott
  5. When you look at it like that i do think that it is possible this "hyperspace" exists and may even influence our reality, but do I think that it is acessed in our dreams? No. ~Scott
  6. On a further off topic note that title was stolen from a book called "Do androids dream of electric sheep' Which was appropriated into the movie "Bladerunner" but thats a whole other kettle of fish.... In response to the original thread i would have to dissagree I think dreams are made up of what we sense in the real world and are just jumbled up. Just because equations predict phenomenon outside of reality that also predict things that happen in the real world dosn't mean that our dreams are these outer phenomenon predicted. See what i mean. Dreams may be approximated in a similar sense and although seemingly random, are a part of the physical world and possibly not the "hyperspace' phenomenon predicted. I hope i havn't missed the point completely (I have a habit of doing that ) Could you provide some scources for this stuff it sounds pretty interesting. ~Scott
  7. I wonder what you have to do to end up in level 9 heh...Although i think level eight is a bit harsh i'm not that bad . Maybe I can get a plea bargain I think I could live in level 1 or purgatory they dont sound too bad what happens in levels two or three? ~Scott
  8. holy shit level eight ~Scott
  9. You sort of have it right, an increase in pressure causes two main things to happen 1) The concentration of the reactants increases and 2) The movement of the particles increase. Both these things increase the number of collisions between reactants thus increasing the rate of reaction. This goes for all reactions not just explosive ones. ~Scott
  10. Yep also on some candles if you have a short wick you can see the flame hovering just above the wick (not all candles though). ~Scott
  11. Australian culture has a extreemly short history (unless indigenous) the only contacts to a past "heretage" or "legendary" history is less then perfect. It includes a civilisation started by criminals and soldiers and the attemted (and somewhat sucessful) genecide of indigenous peoples. We have a terrible history and a rapidly evolved culture with barely any links to this land but we don't have school shootings? I don't think a poor historical backround is the cause of excessive school violence in american schools. ~Scott
  12. More tunes for bush eh? Id have to say -Foreigner "Dirty white boy"... actully scratch that thats more of a Clinton song For bush id have to say Rolling Stones "Can't get no satisfaction" While were on the topic i just can't resist heres one for Osama -Elton Jhon "Take me to the pilot" ~Scott

    Chickenpox Parties

Yeah for sure. Luckily i dont have to go to the doctor very often but i'll try to remember next time I go. Seeing as you had similar circumstances to me and didn't have a natural immunity maybe i don't either? My dad got shingles trust me i know it sucks ~Scott
  14. No those two substances are so polar that they are classed as ionic. The bonds between ions form a crystal lattice that is stronger still then standard polar substances. This sort of stuff can be confusing so i'll give you some examples. Non-polar (CL2 or O2) Both gases at room temperature Polar (HCL or CO2) Still gases at room temperature but have higher boilingpoints Polar with Hydrogen bonding (H2O or CHOOH) Liquids at room temperature thought volitile. Hydrogen bonding occurs when the very polar bond creates a partial positive charge on the H the H then bonds though weeking to a lone pair of electrons on either O, N, or F. This helps hold substances with this structure together increasing the bond stregth. Ionic (NaCl or Fe2O3) Very high metling/boiling points. Generally you will be thought that an ionic substance is always metal-nonmetal bonding this is not true it is actualy due to the differenece in electronegativities (HF) is an example of ionic between two non-metals. Hope that helped ~Scott

    Chickenpox Parties

This is slightly of topic on the ethics of chickenpox but is it possible to have a natural immunity to it? Neither me or my brother and sister have caught it having been exposed to it several times when i was a kid though. My mother and her sister never got it and neither did my mothers father? Is it possiblethere is some kind of genetic immunity happening here? ~Scott
  16. I just worked out the conc 0.3molL that is shockingly weak (Im now concetrating it (that is so dissapointing ) ~Scott
  17. This may sound a bit naive but i dont really do much explosives stuff and no way primaries. But is this reaction really reverseable? Under what circustances "4 C3H5N3O9 --> 10 H2O + 12 CO2 + 6 N2 + O2" does water CO2 nitrogen and oxygen combine to form nitroglycerine? To me this reaction dosen't seem reverseable and the increase of pressure and themperature would not shift the "equilibrium" to the left because there is no equilibrium (Le Chatelier is spinning in his grave right now). As to what will happen i say lots of different compounds made up of H C O N (and some of the container), as to what states they are in your guess is as good as mine Hope that helped ~Scott
  18. I already have the acid This coin stuff is a great idea our silver coins are 25% nickel 75% copper. Since nickel has a higher reduction potential wont that react first leaving the copper? This nickel dosen't have to be to pure but i dont want 75% copper impurities... ~Scott
  19. It probably was flat thats why someone turfed it. Its still very acidic I tried it on some magnesium ribbon it dissolved very quickly. I spose i could have recharged it but whenever i mess areound with my car battery I kill the presets... ~Scott
  20. While Zinc may corrode quickly it forms an impervious oxide layer so once the first layer oxidises wich is pretty quick, it dosen't go through to the steel. ~Scott
  21. Ah, I thought it was pretty clear i already have the acid. I found a battery in the supermarket parking lot (hence i paid nothing) What I need now is nickel ~Scott
  22. But then i'd have to pay for it Yeah i labeled it and theres no little kids at my house so we don't have to worry about that one. As far as nickel sources go i dont have any nicad batteries unfortunately looks like it might have to be that cheepo jewelry. I had a feeling that they sold some nickel stuff at hardware stores it would be easyer then ebay well theres no rush i'll just take a look around still if any1 thinks of easy to get nickel im all ears ~Scott
  23. Its filtered acid from a car battery its fairly conc but not fuming or anything like that. I've got about three quarters in a glass container but the rest i had to stick in a plastic bottle i think its PVC It dosn't seem to be warping or dissolving but just in case im leaving it outside for a few hours. I pretty happy i got about 2litres of acid from that battery not bad for free eh ~Scott Edit: Its PETE not PVC
  24. When i read the title the this thread i had no idea what to expect i mean pope=zinc? Anyway i heard on the TV that they put him in a pine box then that goes into a lead box then that goes into a oak box let stand for a few minute and there you have it perfectly cooked pope...Just wait what was the question again? ~Scott
