  1. The statistical POV

    http://www.nationmaster.com/graph-T/hea_obe

Statistically it is shown that over 30% of the Population is obese and accordingly in that same year *(2000) America had topped the world list of deaths by obese related causes , and this isn't the least of it , at the moment obesity is ever becoming more prevalent in our country . Heart Disease is a major cause contributing to these deaths and one of the most in demanding organs . . . . . .

(I think 30%> obesity is enough to make a strong point for heart disease related causes .)

Then you could probaly argument from the fact that society and it's contribution to the population becoming more vulnerable to health risks is a result of the lack of education to encourage people becoming healthier .

The same thing can goto smoking related causes , it's not the peoples fault for why they are addicted and why they have lung problems . . . .

Basically try and make it not look like the people are responsible for organ problems .

Then point some fingers as to the reasons why , lack of education the fast foods and governments are providing about heart disease , an addictive drug that destroys peoples lungs & kills people being sold to the public , and state that society needs to be doing more to help the public become more healthier than acting or deliberating out against them .

If anyone basically mentions the sick don't deserve to be treated equally as anyone else , then a strong rebuttle would be to raise is the oath of hippocrates

(basically , no matter who the person is or what they have done , the sick need help , as it would be a violation or compromise of professional integrity ( and to the oath of hippocrates) to deliberate a moral judgement against a person who is sick )

This is just a suggestion with some ideas which maybe viable to your support

  2. hey all .

At the moment I have a forty dollar gift voucher for a hardware store and my plans are to turn that forty dollars into something more (because Im broke and bored ). I have friends who would buy a case if I could make my ideas come true . I'm intending to build the case from scratch and I just want some advice on a couple things I'm tossing around in my head .

Whats the best way of making a mould ?

at the moment I'm thinking of just plastering a couple layers of wroughted mesh , any other (easier) alternatives .

What kind of polymer is best & cheapest to use in a mould ?

Any other advice from people who've attempted this .

  3. which is FREAKING AWESOME.

wheres the stupid in that one? i go cliff jumping all the time....

dont think i have quite hit 35 meters tho...

as a matter of fact... isnt 35 meters getting up into bone breaking range? sure you dont mean 35 feet?

maybe, but I was a kid and I would have been heaps lighter then ... it's stupid because I don't think I could ever work the bollocks to do it again .

With the distance , it depends how we look at it , I did a run up so i didn't quite fall straight down 35 metres but if i did it would have been a good 20 something .

My dad was there and he encouraged me to play with the locals , though I didn't think he expected me to play like jump off a cliff like the others .

  4. Bettina ,

While I see you made your point clear I can see that a lot of your words have been marked by the fear that terrorists will arrive in America with nuclear weapons , yes which is scary to imagine . I can understand that by seeing the 9/11 event is an

example of "how anything is possible " is something I don't blame you for

Thanks your president for that one .

  5. I don't wanna sound like I'm arguing with you or mean to go off topic for the sake of this but I feel some things need a lil explaining .

Besides the mention of dirty bombs being the potential threat , women have nothing to do with national security , I see your point but however I don't think religous fanatics are the only people around who are most likely to kill .

    If I were to see things your way ( from what I hear about things ) ,rather about America then I would see ;

    -Columbine Massacres

    -Cult fanatics

    -Rednecks / KKK

    -Muggings / Stabbings

I wouldn't would want to vist America knowing those things but that is only my perception of the things I seen on TV and I know those things don't make the country what it is ( or does it really ? )

Vladimir , I don't think pointing fingers at anyone is mature - the blame is a result of misunderstanding , no ones fault .

  6. #73 ,

Would you think that by eliminating specific genes that we would also eliminate the possibility of evolving because how we would know that by removing our inherent traits that we are also removing something fundamental which has evolved with us for hundreds of thousands of years ?

  7. Do it for einstein ..

ooh make a game where Einstein (with frizzy hair wearing white coat) is riding a beam of light who has to travel and find his way home some x light years away .

As he travels , obstacles like stars are then either trying to push/pull continually his ride further off course .

The aim of the story is that he has to maintain a steady journey through the universe in order to safely find his way home .

    :)

  8. #10 Designer babies .

Designed to be smarter aye ?

    Yes maybe better looking .

    But smarter than Einstein ?

So if a kid was made smarter than their parents I would have to wonder what kind of job the parents had in order to pay for it .

  9. Well to begin . I'm crap at maths and I have a test after the weekend is over , I didn't turn up to maths class the other day and now I missed out and forgot what I'm supposed to know about in/equations . darn .

If anyone can spare a little time explaining to me how I'm suppose to approach :

    1. Simultaneous Solutions
    2. Gradients
    3. intercepts

With an example to use :

    inequation : 3x-5y<15

    and

    equation : 2t-4c=11

It would very nice of you .. thanks heaps in advance

  10. Hi ,

I'm a nursing student who likes reading anything from Socrates through to Hawking . I'm a lay person with basic knowledge on various areas of science and the arts . Lastly and to the most part , I'm here as I wish to learn and establish some elaborate detail into understanding all things from the cosmic body to the human mind .

And like Klanger I find this forum is also informative, funny and seemingly friendly .
