Here is a short article based on the book "Evolution of Money" by Mérő László: http://schoolonomic.blogspot.hu/2012/11/how-can-money-serve-as-replicator.html The whole book is dedicated to the topic discussed. The only problem is, I dont think it was published in english (but I could be wrong).

Money is a meme. CAPITAL is a replicator. It replicates through economic entities / "economic organisms" like businesses.
