  1. I never implied she hasn't. However it is a distraction all the same. She shouldn't be wasting time on it in interviews. I would happily vote for Warren if she were the nominee. However as previously mentioned I don't feel she has managed her message well. She doesn't appear to be a polished campaigner. Perhaps in time that will change.
  2. I agree with the bulk of everything I hear her say. However in my opinion part of managing a message includes influencing coverage to best maximize the amount of media received. I think she has done a poor job at that. I thought the DNA test stuff was an unforced error, if not an outright embarrassment, which only distracts from more meaningful discussions. She also has failed to differentiate herself from Trump on key foreign issues like Syria basically saying Trump was right to pull troops out.
  3. Assuming she believes electing one of her Democratic peers over Trump is important identifying her own weaknesses and best utilizing her skills should be the priority. If she would be better suited as a surrogate for another candidate than that is what she should be doing rather than running for POTUS. I rather see any Democrat (of those currently on my radar) in office over Trump. For me isn't moot because I don't think she has properly prepared herself. Trump and the electoral college doesn't care what Warren's previous aspirations were. That isn't to say having run in 2016 was a requirement but it doesn't seem Warren is as competent a candidate out the gate as she should have been. At some point in the future all the various candidates running will need to decide whether to priorities their own campaigns or prop up the candidate best positioned to win. It is something Bernie Sanders royally screwed up in 2016 in my opinion. If Warren can't get her messaging together and steam going she would best help by supporting those who can. I want to see Democrats win in 2020 for many different reason.
  4. Warren should have ran in 2016. I think it would have help sharpen her message and delivery. Despite having national coverage for several years now she still seems like she is searching for her footing.
  5. Harris will be getting my vote but I am bias being from Oakland and all. I still feel Harris, Warren, Booker, and Sanders (sadly) are the only candidates in the hurt for the party nomination. Everyone else is running for a cabinet job.
  6. I was hoping Beto would run for the Senate.
  7. I think giving him the money would be significantly more expensive because it sets a precedence which will be followed by Politicians for decades.
  8. Trillion dollar deficits moving forward and no projections to balance the budget until 2034.
  9. Protection of that tradition is going too far currently. The inability to even study the issue is nonsensical.
  10. Gun Control is already a complicated enough issue to tackle without the data being corrupted. At a minimum regardless of how one feels about Gun Control quality data should be something we all agree on?
  11. DHS spending has already increased by nearly 15 billion dollars under Trump. Via the national emergency declaration Trump is demanding another roughly 6 billion and then his 2020 budget includes another 8 billion. The increases we have already had, the national emergency, and now the additional budget requests all add up to around 30 billion dollars.
  12. Trump is positioning his next demand/shutdown for the border wall.
  13. What does this have to do with a U.S. Congress Representative loosely implying Jewish associated lobbyist are greedy? Rep. Omar can address any issue she feels is important. I just wish she were more concise.
  14. Manafort got sentenced to 47 months in prison yet many Republicans and conservative pundits are taking a victory lap calling it a lite sentence. 4yrs in prison for a campaign chairman should be a serious embarrassment with lasting political implications. Instead this environment is so awash in corruption and lies 4yrs in prison is being spun by some as equal to an acquittal.
  15. I have FB for work purposes but don't find it all that entertaining. I have read that for some it is highly addictive but only loosely understand that appeal. FB does have original programming now, Link. I haven't seen any of it yet though.
  16. Politicians taking bribes or otherwise being unduly influenced by money is a real problem. Antisemitism is a real problem as well. It seems to me Omar's comments are accurate to a degree regarding lobbyist while also skirting the line on antisemitism. Making accurate statements about topic A) does mean one can't also be making inappropriate comments about topic B). We see it used in politics all the time. For example politicians will often accurately cite crime statistics in Chicago when discussing crime in the U.S. to inappropriately characterize specific groups of people or exaggerate dangers the country faces. There are numerous discussions that need to be had about foreign influence in elections, campaign finance, and lobbyist access to politicians. However Omar appear to be uniquely concerned with Jewish money. Omar makes ambiguous comments about and then when pressed for clarification cites Israeli lobbyists. Of course not all Jewish communities are in Israel nor do all Jewish people support the current Israeli govt. So the storm surrounding Omar's comments is messy. I think she needs to start doing a better job speaking in more concise terms and offering solutions which would universally address the influence of money in politics.
  17. I was so sure I would like the Expanse I bought the first season on iTunes but then watched the first 3 episodes gave up and have never finished the first season. Thomas Jane's character walking around the future like a 50's era PI wasn't working for me. I have been told by many that the show got better but it is such a huge investment of time I have never gotten back to it.
  18. Brown, Bloomberg, Holder and Clinton. Seems we may pretty much have all the legitimate candidates we are going to get. Only Biden is left.
  19. House leadership is trying to daft something to condemn anti-Semitism in response to further comments by Rep. Omar.
  20. Uhm, I think you meant Bill Clinton? FoxNews was launch in 96' and shot up quickly assailing the Clintons and Al Gore.
  21. Relative to media as a whole FoxNews was no Better under Bush than it is under Trump. Just has Trump has hired FoxNews employees to come work in the White White and for his campaign so did Bush. FoxNews personality Tony Snow was Bush's Press Sec. after all and Sean Hannity use to fly around on Air Force one and get special access.
  22. Right, this type of stuff crosses the line with regards to the FCC's sponsorship identification rule I linked earlier. At a minimum shows like Hannity's should have to acknowledge with some time of on screen text that it's a Republican Party endorsed/affiliated show.
  23. I see. I had thought the name change was an acknowledgement. My mistake. The FCC (govt) already regulates TV. I am not suggesting anything other than the enforcement of existing rules. As a sponsor of the Republican Party FoxNews should have to air identifiers. Numerous FoxNews personalities have been given jobs in the current and in previous Republican administrations, campaigned for Republican Politicians, and been provided special access. There is clearly an exchange of service or other value at play between the Republican Party and FoxNews.
  24. I think right wing and fringe media like Breitbart, Drudge Report, InfoWars, and etc multiply the FoxNews effect. Alone FoxNews is merely a bias cable network not all that different (though more successful) than MSNBC. It is the glut of personalities beyond FoxNews like Limbaugh, Savage, Levine, Coulter, Jones, Beck, and etc who create the echo chamber FoxNews expertly exploits. I don't think FoxNews can be censored. I don't think FoxNews should be censored. Freedom of speech protects their right to render their opinions. However just like the WWF was forced to change it's name to the WWE because too many people thought it was real so to should FoxNews have to drop it's News label. It is just a collection of media personality spouting off their opinions. It is no more a news channels than in Howard Stern's Sirius satellite Channels are News channels.
