colonize the Moon--or Mars?

Featured Replies

If Engineering is not the best place for this' date=' OK, but there [i']would[/i] be a lot of engineering problems to be solved in a colonization project on the Moon, or Mars.

Wanna discuss it?

Is there a source of fuel and water on either or both? Are those sources exploitable? Food? Perhaps subterranian greenhouses?

I suppose it really hinges on what you mean by "colonise". Do you mean in the sense of a permanent, partially civilian population?

In all likelihood we'd eventually want a presence on both, but they'd differ in their population makeup and long-term objectives.
