Question about multiphase coilgun

Greetings!

I have sucesfully created a coilgun with 4 capacitors. Could someone tell me how to add extra phases? I know that each secondary phase will requier a different activation then the primary. Prohaps if i use optical sensors like this?(http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xoptical+sensors.TRS0&_nkw=optical+sensors&_sacat=0)

Also could someone tell me how to mount phases togeather?
