how do i prove by contradiction that the sum of two irrational numbers is irrational?

lol ah ha thats because its false.... :P ie. srt2 + (-srt2) = 0

 

but that then begs the question....is zero rational or irrational?

If a number can be expressed in fraction, then it is a rational number.

Can 0 be expressed into a fraction? You think about it.

Zero is a rational number, since it can be written as a quotient of two integers. Namely, we can write [math]0=\frac{0}{a}[/math], where [math]a[/math] is any non-zero integer.

well. just take another example then... [math](1-\sqrt{2})+\sqrt{2}=1[/math]
