ethyl nicotinate as dehydrating agent???

i am using ethyl nicotinate to convert amide (alicyclic) to nitrile; Other reagent used is trifluoroacetic anhydride; I am not clear about how EN acts in this conversion; can anybody throw light into this mechanism;
