Sodium Acetate

Featured Replies

Hey. I need a little help. I'm trying to heat something using sodium acetate, as people on this forum suggested I do (see post Heat through wires? in this section). So...where do I get a hold of sodium acetate? Do I just pour it into what ever I'm trying to heat (shovel handle) and heat it? Or do I need to make a paste? etc.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

the SA needs to be sealed in a bag or bottle as a paste.

do NOT dillute this in water, you`ll spoil it :(

seal it water/air tight in a container that will stand boiling water temp without rupturing. it needs to be flexible too, to trigger the reaction.

this hard paste in it`s bag/container then gets dropped into boiling water until it all becomes liquid, and then allow it to cool naturaly (it will remain as a liquid until activated by a shockwave).

you can either make your own or buy it, your choice :)
