Good question - there is a striking difference between the two grids. It seems there is still conflict over why we see scintillation in the recti-linear grid - perhaps the fact that we don't in the sinusoidal can help explain the former (or at least get rid of incorrect hypotheses) as the last paragraph on the wiki suggests.
