Blog post: Lightmeow: Quadcopter Ideas and Thoughts

Featured Replies

I have been doing a bunch of research over the past week. The one web site that I am looking at for parts to buy is .

For motors, I am looking into getting the A2217-9 Brushless Outruner motor. I choose this motor because it has a good amount of lift; with 950 RPM, and has 31.41oz of thrust. It is 2.59oz, so that is a good thrust to weight ratio.

For a propeller controller thingy, I think I might get the HobbyWing FlyFun Brushless ESC 30A.

I don't know what I am getting for the transmitter/receiver.

For the Arduino controllar, I am going to get the Arduino Uno, because it has a nice price tag, and I don't see myself needing anymore input output ports. Right now I don't think I am going to be hooking up to much to it, so this will suffice.

For sensors, well, I am still doing my homework on this.

This is going to be a half pricy project, but all hobbies are pricy... Some of the shocks on one of my RC cars would of been $200 dollars if I hadn't gotten lucky at a yard sale.

I did not list everything, but these are the pricy things that I am going to need to buy.

So now, I need some ideas on how to make some money. Any ideas? Keep in mind that I live ten miles from town, and it's not like my parents are going to drive me so I can go to the hardware store.

The first thing that I am going to do, even before I buy the motors, is buy the sensors, GPS chip, and the Arduino thingy so I can make a rover out of my Monster Truck RC.

Thanks for reading, and I value all input.
