How to determine the shape of a co-ordination compound?

If a coordination compound is given, how can you determine its proper shape from its formula? I wanna know the process.

If you want to look up the methodology some more Google 'VESPR'... sorry that's VSEPR.

 

Basically you predict the shape based on bond repulsion of negative electrons.
