Dear all,

 

I have a thermodynamics exam this week and am going through tutorial questions for which I have answers but no worked solutions. Can you please help in finding them?

 

I don't know what equations to use to find the effectiveness and the fluid outlet temperature in the attached question.

 

I think there may be a way to use 'E (effectiveness) = Q/ C min (Th1-Tc1)' , where Th1 and Tc1 are the hot fluid and cold fluid inlet temperatures respectively. There may be a method to get Q from the info given in the question, but I don't know a useful formula.

 

I have attached the ques. and the answers are at the bottom right corner of the attachment.
