Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I've been stuck with this problem for hours now, can't seem to understand and find out the mechanism and why ...

the reaction is

1) 2-methoxycyclohexene with ethanol and H+ catalyse --> ? and how/which reactionmechanism (I can't seem to figure out if the ether is unreactive or the alkene )

2) the product from the 1) reaction now heated with water and acid to boiling point ---> what is the reaction

mechanism and products ?

The compound you're describing is actually different from a simple alkene or ether. It is actually an enol ether. This is actually a single functional group rather than two separate ones.
