Storing some empty ether canisters, how safe to keep these?

Featured Replies

Hey there, I've got a small number of empty metal ether canisters, they have a small venting hole even with the cap on.

I've just had them for a month since they were used up.

I don't intend to re-use the canisters for anything but the residue inside still leaves this thing smelling well.. like ether.. pretty darn foul.

I don't imagine there's dangerous levels of peroxide buildup with the smell due to the remaining residue inside? I mean.. enough to get explosions due to agitation? i'm not concerned with flammability as that's avoidable with precautions when cleaning or dealing with the smell.

If you have any suggestion as to how I can neutralize the stench constantly seeping out, please let me know, baking soda? etc. I don't have easy access to a hose to just rinse it out (living in an apartment) .. but if that's the best or only way I can find a way.

thanks.
