Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project

As you all know, as far as scientific breakthroughs go, it's all about replication. If you have something real, then it must be replicable in labs all over the world.

Cold fusion gained attention after reports in 1989 by Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann, then one of the world's leading electrochemists, that their apparatus had produced anomalous heat ("excess heat"), of a magnitude they asserted would defy explanation except in terms of nuclear processes.

One might think from the popular press, that all the attempted replications failed. Most did fail; but not all. Since there was little understanding of what the hell was going on at that time, and there was little knowledge of how to do the experiments correctly the results were hit and miss. The same lab could get positive results one week, and the next not. Most everyone gave up and concluded it was all a big mistake.

That said, a few dedicated scientists who had results, realized that there was something here that if understood and refined, could change the world as we know it. So, here we are twenty years later.

So, cutting to the chase. You may have heard of some who are boisterously proclaiming huge cold fusion breakthroughs (now called Low Energy Nuclear Reactions/LENR). They may have; they may not. However, there are others not so loud, who are doing provable LENR replication. One of those is Francesco Celani.

Francesco Celani, a physicist with the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics in Frascati, Italy. He has constructed a reliable desktop reactor that others can use replicate to prove that LENR is real and valid.

Currently, there is a small group of scientists, engineers and technicians called the Hunt Utilities Group, who are partnering with the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project, whose soul purpose is to replicate and refine -- even further if necessary -- Celani's reactor. They are doing so in order to make totally plug-and-play units that can be donated to universities and scientists around the globe to prove beyond a doubt that LENR is real. This unit will incorporate everything: the reactor, all measuring and sensory apparatus and electronics, software, instructions and even a laptop computer so that you can setup and go. Once LENR is proven by many replications, then monies will flow into this remarkable, inexpensive, nonpolluting new energy generation...and our world will change forever. It's truly that BIG.

These guys are doing everything they can to painstakingly cover all the bases and do this project the justice it deserves. It is a totally open-to-all project, where they post and document their work and results (good or bad) everyday if they can.

This is a interdisciplinary project that requires everything from physics and mechanical engineering to mathematics and software tech to basic organization of all this stuff. You name it, it's likely a discipline that can in some way help.

Thank you all,

James

How do you propose to get useful energy out of the New Fire? Of the three methods of confinement (magnetic, inertial, and lattice) which is the most promising for power generation? The Educate page at the Quantum Heat site could be supplemented to give the big picture of where this effort fits in with others, such as hot fusion, the Rossi reactor, the National Ignition Facility in Livermore CA. and the Taleyarkhan cavitation experiments. Is this research limited to LENR from metal lattice confinement? Does the fusion event pit the metal?

Wilmot, thanks for your interest.

Please pass your pointer over the Replicate tag near the top of the page. Url removed by moderator.

There you will find a menu of: Overview, Celani Replication Plan (18 pages), Progress Blog, and Initial Replication Experiment. All your question, plus much more data should be found there.

If you go to the Progress Blog, today you can take part in the actual heating of the active Celani wire. Here is where the fun really begins! Url removed by moderator.

sounds like a money-making scam

??????

WOW, that's a comment I never expected to hear. They are not selling anything!

Did you take the time to actually read anything at all on the site? I seriously doubt you did. It's the most open and transparent scientific research project you will likely ever come across again in your life!

Well they have taken thousands of dollars in donations for a project that many feel is make-believe.

The éminence grise of this particular idea - Ing. Rossi has dodged external auditing so many times that he is, in my and many others' opinion, a scammer; the theoretical physics is not generally agreed, the replication leaves a lot to be desired, and the lack of publication and peer-review is deadly.

How about pitting? Here is a link to a more lively and informed discussion of the Celani experiment. http://www.e-catworld.com/2012/11/mfmp-celani-cell-live-run-nov-13th-thread/

Particularly interesting is this comment from Peter Roe:

It’s interesting that the ‘activation temperature’ of 270C is very close to the point at which Akiya Matsuda has determined that hydrogen absorption by nickel changes from exothermic to endothermic (250C). Perhaps there is a connection, but as there is no hydrogen atmosphere it can’t be the obvious one.

Thanks Wilmot. I haven't had a chance to read either of your links but as a first point; you said "as there is no hydrogen atmosphere" - surely the Celani nickel alloy wire is in 3+bar hydrogen gas?

Wouldn't it be great if someone would attempt to solve all these LENR problems that you have mentioned. Wouldn't it be better still if they did so in a totally transparent and open-to-all project that brought scientists and technicians together from a round the world; so that there was no questions as to the validity of all the effort and their results.

That's what the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project is doing. And yes it takes money to buy the necessary equipment to build and properly test the LENR devices (the original team has spent more than $100,000 of their own monies to get the replication work going).

The goal here is not to make a profit, but rather to openly prove the legitimacy of the process and replicate more complete units that will be donated to respected independent institutions for verification of the phenomenon to prove beyond a doubt that LENR is real. Then automatically things will move into place where new businesses will begin refining commercial units that will supply the world with a new, clean and inexpensive energy source. Pretty noble and worthwhile goal if you ask me.

It's true that most mainstream science still turns their back on LENR. But not all. Things are changing. Here is what Dennis Bushnell, the chief scientist at NASA Langley Research Center has to say about it.

http://futureinnovat...-reactions.html

Here is a site with more than 1,000 original scientific papers on LENR. Including some from the U.S. Navy. http://lenr-canr.org/

I could go on listing information and naming those publicly involved in LENR research and development. But it's not my goal to change peoples minds. Rather I'm hoping that those who already have done enough research to realize that there is indeed something huge and earth-shaking going on here, will find the time to visit the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project site. Especially scientists, engineers and technician types.

If you go here: Url removed by moderator about 2/3 of the way down the page you will see the results of electron microscope inspection of the Celini wire.

Moderator Note

Dear JamesThomas,

Please check our forum rules, section 2.7, regarding making a thread to advertise an external website.
We will never approve any posts which suggest people make any donations, and then gives a link to another website. We don't care how innocent it is.

For that reason, I have removed every url which lead to a website with a "donate" button or something. Please be so kind not to post those links again. If any moderator sees the links to that project again, you will be banned as an ordinary spammer.
