Hi; I understand that we have a pair of chromosome in each set, not identical as each derives fom a different parent.

when a cell "decides" to code for a particular protein, say from number 1 in the set, what determins the decison which of the 2 to code from in producing the protein?

Thanks

Martyn

Before trying to confuse yourself more I would suggest watching a few videos about sexual reproduction and genetics particularly mitosis and meiosis as well as maybe re-reading a few sections from your text book. The way you wrote your question makes it seem like you're slightly unfamiliar with some of these topics. Don't take any of that the wrong way, I just think it's in your best intrest to get the basics back down before you move on. Any more question you have just let me know! Happy Studying!
