Widdekind
Coal deposits from Australia 200-150Mya, when India was adjacent: Could coal deposits in eastern India, on the following figure, be geologically related?? http://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/india/coalreserves.htm http://www.interactions.org/sgtw/2005/1026/iow_20051026.html
Doc.ToBe
It is possible given that in past Australia and India were once a common landmass. Since coal formation also takes time and mainly is due to decomposition and also it requires plants in large quantities. I think it is a matter of timescale we need a solid research rather than guessing it out! For a common relation the coal formation should start forming before the lands separated due to tectonic shift.
