I my hip joint at the left thigh has been injured for 5 days and I, with my anatomy knowledge as a student and orthopedic tech, think that I have a tendon ruptured. I have an appointment with a doc tomorrow. My concern is how long can an untreated ruptured tendon last until resulting permanent disability

Draconic, I do not have an answer, but I have the same question about the same injury, as it happened to me on June 29th. I am a dancer and without insurance, but I know I tore my gluteus medius. I heard the audible rip and felt a pop, so I believe I ruptured the tendon at the insertion of the muscle. The weakness has not changed.

 

If/when you find out, would love to hear any information on this topic.

I did hear a pop and think I may have torn my achilles however I am not sure because ...A way to test for a rupture is to use the Thompson Test.
