If we take the fourth dimension to be time, it's just a simple measure of Space-Time. Intuitively, we can say that how long does an object with volume V exist, and while in existance, how much space it takes up on average.

If you want to get a more intuitive feel of the 4th dimension, and possibly higher ones, try Googling "Imagining the 10th Dimension". Not a completely scientific way, but it has merits to it.
