Interposons?

Featured Replies

What are interposons and what does it do? I'm studying genetics at university and this is one of the revision questions. I can't even find the answer to this anywhere: ie it's not in any of my lectures, books, nor is it on google. Help please.

If anyone could explain what it is and what role it plays, it would be great. And why is it important? thnx

It's an interruption gene segment e.g. interposon [math] \omega-Km [/math] inserted into the unique [math] BglII [/math] site . . . . localizes gene expression. Use your schools library search tool to find the usage in journals and derive an answer from what you read. I derived my definition from reading a number of journals, the example provided came from a study on P. putida "Localization and Functional Analysis of Structural and Regulatory Dehalogenase Genes Carried on DEH from Pseudomonas putida PP3." I'm not citing it, it is late and I only noted their usage not any descriptions; I prefer to avoid this sort of activity myself.

Thank you so much! I'm still an undergraduate student and am getting used to reading and interpreting journal articles. It's all quite new to me so it's like reading a whole different language (except it's science). I'll check that article out, thanks! :)
