jdurg Posted November 3, 2004 Share Posted November 3, 2004 "Nonionic" means 'no ions'. So a nonionic substance is a substance which is not composed of ions. This would be things like carbon dioxide, water, ethanol, sugar, graphite, methane, benzene, etc. etc. Ionic substances are generally salts.
